The North-western Side of Portion of St. John Street, in the
City of Wellington, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117
of the Public Works Act, 1908, subject to a Condition as to the
Building-line.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 4th day of
April, 1927.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the
Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the following
resolution passed by the Wellington City Council on the
sixteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and
twenty-six, viz. :
“ The Wellington City Council, being the local authority
having control of the streets in the City of Wellington,
hereby declares that the provisions of section one hundred
and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not
apply to the north-western side of all that portion of St.
John Street, beginning at a point approximately 191·72 links
from its junction with Aro Street, and extending for a
distance of 15·16 links, being part of road fronting Lots 1
and 2, D.P. 3723, part Town Section 25, City of Wellington ” ;
subject to the condition that no building or part of a building
shall at any time be erected on the land fronting the north-
western side of the portion of St. John Street (described in the
Schedule hereto), within a distance of twenty feet from the
centre-line of the said portion of street.
SCHEDULE.
THE north-western side of all that portion of street, situated
in the Wellington Land District, City of Wellington, known
as St. John Street, fronting Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 3723, being part
Town Section 25. As the said portion of street is more parti-
cularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 68140, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in
the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Vesting a Reserve in the Ophir Hall Society (Incorporated).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 28th day
of March, 1927.
Present:
The Honourable W. Downie Stewart presiding in
Council.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
has been duly set apart as a site for a public hall:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is
expedient that the said land should be vested in the Ophir
Hall Society (Incorporated) :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon
him by section four of the Public Reserves and Domains
Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that, from and after the day
of the date hereof, the reserve described in the Schedule
hereto shall become vested in the Ophir Hall Society
(Incorporated), in trust, as a site for a public hall.

Prescribing the Rate of Interest that may be paid by the Avondale
Borough Council in respect of a Loan of £10,300, authorized
to be raised for Sewer Reticulation.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 28th day
of March, 1927.

The Honourable W. Downie Stewart presiding in
Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and fourteen of the
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, it is provided that,
notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act or in any
rule of law, where a local authority or public body has been
authorized before the passing of the said Act, or is thereafter
authorized, to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of
ratepayers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest
or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or
determined, and such money or any part thereof has not
been borrowed, the local authority or public body may, with
the precedent consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such
money, or such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at
such rate of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed
by the Governor-General by Order in Council ;
And whereas the Avondale Borough Council has been
authorized to borrow the sum of ten thousand three hundred
pounds for sewer reticulation :
And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent
consent as required by the above-recited section one-hundred
and fourteen, and it is desired that the rate of interest at
which the money may be borrowed be not exceeding six per
centum per annum :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the
rate of interest that may be paid by the Avondale Borough
Council in respect of the said sum of ten thousand three
hundred pounds shall be a rate not exceeding six per centum
per annum, and the said Avondale Borough Council is hereby
authorized to borrow the said sum of ten thousand three
hundred pounds accordingly.

to be raised for completing the Laying of Water-mains.

completing the undertaking :
And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent
consent as required by the above-recited section one hundred
and fourteen, and it is desired that the rate of interest at
which the money may be borrowed be not exceeding six per
centum per annum :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting
