Wearing of Special Badge by Knights Bachelor.

IT is hereby notified for general information that advice has been received from His Majesty’s Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs that His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to direct that the badge which he has recently sanctioned for Knights Bachelor should be worn, if alone, in the position in which the Star of an Order is worn and that, if worn together with the Star of any Order, it should be worn after the Star of a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, before the Star of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and before the Star of any Foreign Order.

Open Season for Red-deer Shooting, Lakes District Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 24th day of March, 1927, to the 21st day of May, 1927 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Lakes District Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and hinds—within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds may be issued by the Postmaster at Queenstown, on the recommendation of the secretary of the Lakes District Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £4, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  2. Ball cartridge only to be used: Provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

  3. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  5. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Lakes District Acclimatization Society, Queenstown, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

  6. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

  7. The licensee must give notice to the said Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

  8. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

All that area known as the Aspiring, Upper Wanaka, Wilkins, and Matukituki Districts.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

LICENSE TO TAKE OR KILL IMPORTED GAME (DEER).

, of , having this day paid the sum of £4, is hereby authorized to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds within that part of the Lakes District Acclimatization District known as the Aspiring, Upper Wanaka, Wilkins, and Matukituki Districts, from the 24th day of March, 1927, to the 21st day of May, 1927 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting red-deer stags and hinds made thereunder and in force within the said district,

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

Boundaries of Greenvale Fire District extended.

WHEREAS by a notice in the Gazette on the 18th day of January, 1923, at page 179 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), a certain area in Blocks V, IX, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, and XVII, Greenvale Survey District, Otago Land District (inter alia), was declared to be a fire district under the name of the Greenvale Fire District:

And whereas it is expedient to extend the boundaries of the said fire district by including therein the land described in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the Otago Land District, I do hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be part of the Greenvale Fire District constituted by the said notice, and do hereby vary the said notice accordingly.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—CANTERBURY - OTAGO FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

Addition to Greenvale Fire District.

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 163 acres 3 roods 28 perches, more or less, being Section 5, Block XIII, Greenvale Survey District; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 204/15, deposited in the Head Office, State Forest Service, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
