Notice as to an Area in Nelson Land District declared to be
a Fire District.

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 6th December, 1926.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22, I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do hereby further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—MAUNGATAPU FIRE DISTRICT.

ALL that area, containing by admeasurement 87,500 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IV, V, VIII, IX, Wangamoa Survey District, Blocks I and II, Tapumutu Survey District, Blocks IV, VII, VIII, X, and XI, Wakapuaka Survey District, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX, Maungatapu Survey District, and Blocks VIII, XI, XII, XV, XVI, Waimea Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the south-western corner of Section 85, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence in a northerly direction generally by the western boundary of said Section 85 to its junction with the Teal River; thence by that river to the northern boundary of Section 94, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence by the northern boundary of Sections 94 and 14, Block X aforesaid, to the south-western corner of Section 13, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence by the western boundaries of Sections 13 and 12, by the western and northern boundaries of Section 8, and again by the western boundary of Section 12, all of Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District; thence by the western boundary of Section 2, Block XI, Wakapuaka Survey District to the Lud River; thence by the said Lud River to the southern boundary of Section 5, Block VII, Wakapuaka Survey District, and by that boundary to the main Nelson-Blenheim Road; thence by that road to the Wangamoa Accommodation-house; thence easterly by the Collyns River to the south-western corner of Section 8, Block I, Tapumutu Survey District; thence by the western boundaries of Sections 8, 6, 7, Block I, Tapumutu Survey District, and by the western boundaries of Sections 11, 4, 3, Block VIII, Wangamoa Survey District; thence by the southern boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Wangamoa Survey District to Tasman Bay; thence in a north-easterly, south-easterly, and south-westerly direction generally by the coast to the north-east corner of Section 2 of 18, Block IX, Wangamoa Survey District; thence by the eastern boundary of said Section 2 of 18 to the Land District boundary between Nelson and Marlborough; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the Land District boundary to the Heringa River, by that river to its junction with the Pelorus River; thence up the said Pelorus River to the north-eastern corner of Block IV, Rintoul Survey District; thence due west by block line between Block IV, Rintoul Survey District, and Block XVI, Waimea Survey District, to the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block XVI, Waimea Survey District; thence by the southern and western boundaries of said Section 5 and the western boundary of Section 1, Block XVI, Waimea Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section 9, Block XV, Waimea Survey District; thence south-west by a road to its junction with the Serpentine River; thence by the said Serpentine River to its junction with the Roding River; thence by that river to the south-western corner of Section 6, Block VIII, Waimea Survey District; thence by the western boundary of said Section 6 to a road, by the said road and by the western boundary of Section 64, Block VIII, Waimea Survey District, to its junction with Poor Man’s Valley Road; thence by that road and by the north-western boundaries of Sections 93, 94, 96, and 30, Block VIII, Waimea Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 11, Block IV, Waimea Survey District; thence north-west by a closed road to western corner of Section 1, City of Nelson; thence by the boundaries of the said Section 1 and by an old dividing-line to the north-western boundary of Section 22, Block I, Maungatapu Survey District; thence by the north-western boundaries of Sections 22, 21, and 16, and the boundaries of Sections 15, 2, 58, and 43, Block I, Maungatapu Survey District, to the Maitai River; thence by that river to the south-western corner of Section 44, Block II, Maungatapu Survey District, and by the western boundaries of the said Section 44 and Section I, Waterworks Reserve, Block II, Maungatapu Survey District, and again by northern boundary of said Section 1, Waterworks Reserve, to the point of commencement.

As the same is more particularly delineated on plan 103/1, deposited in the Head Office, State Forest Service, Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
