Whangaroa County.—Kaeo Survey District.
Section 5, Block IV: Area, 236 acres. Capital value, £180. Deferred payments: Deposit, £10; half-yearly instalment, £5 10s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 12s.
Section 6, Block IV: Area 150 acres 3 roods 36 perches. Capital value, £115. Deferred payments: Deposit, £5; half-yearly instalment, £3 11s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 6s.
Section 7, Block IV: Area, 184 acres 1 rood 4 perches. Capital value, £165. Deferred payments: Deposit, £10; half-yearly instalment, £5 0s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 6s.
Sections situated about three miles from Otoroa Post-office and ten miles from Kaeo. Land is covered with manuka, fern, and wiri. Well watered. Altitude, 500 ft. to 950 ft. above sea-level.
Section 5: Undulating and easy sloping country, all ploughable. Soil is poor clay and small quantity of ironstone.
Section 6: About 10 acres swamp, balance undulating and easy sloping. About three-quarters ploughable. Soil is poor clay and ironstone.
Section 7: About 40 acres drainable swamp, balance undulating country. Outside swamp area, soil is of poor quality.
Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Survey District.
Sections 3 and 11, Block VIII: Area, 519 acres and 24 perches. Capital value, £770. Deferred payments: Deposit, £40; half-yearly instalment, £23 14s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £19 5s.
Situated on the Opua–Waimate Road, three miles from Opua Railway-station, wharf, and school. Steep and broken country, about one-third covered with bush, which contains fair quantity of millable timber. Soil on bush area is of fair quality, balance poor. Well watered by streams and springs. The improvements, included in capital value, consist of 80 acres bush felled and grassed (poor), 71 chains road-fencing, very fair order, 59 chains boundary-fencing, also in good order, and two-roomed whare, 20 ft. by 10 ft., built of totara, with iron roof.
Section 15, Block VII: Area, 735 acres 2 roods 26 perches. Capital value, £1,105. Deferred payments: Deposit, £55; half-yearly instalment, £34 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £27 12s. 6d.
Situated six miles from Opua Railway-station and school, and fifteen miles from Ohaeawai Dairy Factory. There are about 10 acres in good pasture; 80 acres bush land felled and grassed; balance natural state. Section generally is rough and broken, with bush in gullies, where soil is of fair quality; ridges comprise poor land, in manuka and fern. There are about 250 chains of fencing in good repair, property being partly ring fenced, and divided into four paddocks. Only buildings are slab shed with paling roof, and very roughly built shanty.
Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Parish.
Sections 106–109, and 111–116: Area, 464 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £410. Deferred payments: Deposit, £20; half-yearly instalment, £12 13s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 4s.
Weighted with £470, valuation for improvements, consisting of house (all iron) of three rooms, lined, ceiled, and papered; four-bail paling cow-byre and separator-room; one mile fencing, fair order; 5 miles fencing in poor condition; 15 chains of draining; and 20 acres ploughing and grassing. £310 of above amount may be left on State Advances mortgage.
Situated on the Kawakawa–Otau Road, about seven miles from Kawakawa Railway-station, by formed road, and also seven miles from Opua Port. Country is flat, rolling, and undulating, about four-fifths of area being ploughable. Soil is of fair quality clay on sandstone formation; well watered. Twenty acres have been ploughed and grassed. Balance has been periodically burnt and surface sown, but manuka, fern, and hakea now over this area. Suitable for sheep. Handy to freezing-works.
Bay of Islands County.—Hukerenui Survey District.
Sections 16, 22, 23, and 26, Block VI: Area, 100 acres and 6 perches. Capital value, £175. Deferred payments: Deposit, £10; half-yearly instalment, £5 7s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 10s.
Situated on the Main North Road, a quarter mile from Akerama Railway-station. About 5 acres rush swamp, balance easy sloping country. All ploughable, in short manuka and fern. Soil is of poor quality clay; no water.
Bay of Islands County.—Ruapekapeka Parish.
Sections 114A and 115: Area, 342 acres 1 rood 15 perches. Capital value, £300. Deferred payments: Deposit, £15; half-yearly instalment, £9 5s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6.
Situated on the Kawakawa–Tapuhi Road, about seven miles from Kawakawa Railway-station and post-office. A half-time school adjoins the property. Country is undulating to steep. Soil is fair quality clay for most part, with a little volcanic. About 40 acres green bush, containing a little kauri, and sufficient totara for fencing purposes. Balance in manuka and fern. About 80 chains of boundary has been fenced.
Whangarei County.—Ruarangi Parish.
Sections 58, 59, and W 62: Area, 292 acres. Capital value, £220. Deferred payments: Deposit, £10; half-yearly instalment, £6 16s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 8s.
Situated at Ruarangi on the Main North Road. Access is from Tauroroa Railway-station, five miles distant, by cart road, metalled for three miles. Soil is clay resting on clay formation, fairly well watered by small creek. About 50 acres heavy tea-tree, 5 acres light bush, containing towai, taraire, birch, &c., and balance in fern, small tea-tree, and wiri. No improvements. Elevation ranges from 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.
Hobson County.—Te Kuri Parish.
Section 12: Area, 95 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £100. Deferred payments: Deposit, £5; half-yearly instalment, £3 1s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2.
Situated about one mile and a half from Tangaihi Post-office, school, and wharf, access being by cart-road. About 10 acres swamp; balance undulating country in fern, tea-tree scrub, and heather. Soil is of fair quality in swamp portion, fairly poor in balance. Only improvements consist of 7 chains poor fencing and 5 chains draining. Altitude, 75 ft. above sea-level.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Whangarei County.—Waikare Parish.
Sections 6–8, s. 9, 10, and 11: Area, 480 acres 1 rood 35 perches. Capital value, £180. Deferred payments: Deposit, £10; half-yearly instalment, £5 10s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 12s.
Situated on the road between Parua Bay and the coast. Access is from Parua Bay, which is about five miles distant by formed road. The soil is of poor quality, except on the swamp, resting on clay formation. Well watered by creek. About 40 acres of wiwi swamp, 10 acres bush, 100 acres undulating, remainder broken land in fern and tea-tree, parts very stony. Bush contains puriri, manuka, taraire, and some kauri rikas. The altitude ranges from 30 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
SPECIAL CONDITION FOR SECTIONS 3 AND 11, BLOCK VIII, AND SECTION 15, BLOCK VII, KAWAKAWA SURVEY DISTRICT.
The lessee may cut, fell, clear off, and carry away any of the timber standing or lying on the land, or any part thereof, for the purpose of clearing the said land for cultivation, and may use any part of the said timber for fencing or other purposes connected with the occupation and cultivation of the said land, but not for sale: provided always that the said lessee shall not remove any of the timber standing or lying on the said land for any purpose whatsoever without having first obtained the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fifth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
