(4.) In the case of a student who lives at home, but is obliged to travel more than four miles daily each way in order to attend the training college, there may be paid the actual cost of travelling (not exceeding £10 per annum).
Studentships of Division B.
- (1.) To be admitted in Division B a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Be not less than seventeen years of age, and have obtained a higher leaving certificate, or a partial pass in accordance with regulations in the Class D Certificate Examination, or have obtained some other educational qualification that, in the opinion of the Director, is equivalent thereto:
(b.) Comply within six months of the date of admission with such conditions as to probation in teaching as the Principal of the training college, with the approval of the Committee of Advice, may require:
(c.) Satisfy conditions (c) and (d) as for students in Division A.
(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division B shall be those set out in subclauses (2), (3), and (4) of clause 11 hereof for a student in Division A, except that the allowance provided in subclause (2) shall be £65 for a male and £60 for a female student.
Studentships of Division C.
- (1.) To be admitted in Division C a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Be a graduate of a recognized University, or have, as a matriculated student, satisfactorily completed a two years' course at a recognized agricultural college or at a school of home science recognized by the University of New Zealand, or have obtained some other educational qualification that, in the opinion of the Director, is equivalent thereto:
(b.) Give such evidence of teaching ability or promise as the Principal, with the approval of the Committee of Advice, may require:
(c.) Undertake to devote his whole attention to subjects of professional study and practice under the direction of the Principal:
(d.) Satisfy conditions (c) and (d) as for a student of Division A.
(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division C shall be at the same rate as that for a student in Division A.
Short-period Studentships, Division D.

(1.) To be admitted in Division D a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Have passed in Group I of the examinations for Class D, or have obtained some other educational qualification that, in the opinion of the Director, is equivalent thereto:
(b.) Have been, for such period as may be approved by the Director, regularly employed in teaching in a registered school or schools:
(c.) Be deemed, on the certificate of an Inspector of Schools, worthy of further training in professional work:
(d.) Satisfy condition (c) as for a student of Division A.
(2.) The course for a student of Division D shall be for such period, being not less than three months or more than one year, as the Principal, with the approval of the Committee of Advice, shall determine, and shall be wholly professional or partly academic and partly professional, at the discretion of the Principal.
(3.) The allowances payable to a student of Division D shall be at the annual rate of the allowances payable to a student of Division B. -
Notwithstanding anything in the above provisions the Principal may, on the recommendation of an Inspector of Schools, admit to the training college, for such period as the Director may approve, any teacher of a registered school for the purposes of observation of the methods of teaching. No allowances shall be payable in such cases.
General.
- (1.) Every student of Division A, B, or C shall enter, by his parent or guardian, or by some other person approved by the Board and the Minister, into a bond with the Minister to return the amount paid in allowances and fees in case he shall fail to complete his course of training whether as a student or as a probationary assistant, or be dismissed on the grounds named in subclause (2) of clause 29 hereof, or fail to complete within the time required such term of service as a teacher as is prescribed in a public school, in a secondary or technical school, or in a free kindergarten school
