or by Letters Patent, the boundaries as so altered shall be,
and be deemed to have been, from the date of the alteration,
the boundaries of the colony :
And whereas by an Order of His Majesty in Council bearing
date the 29th day of February, 1916, certain islands in the
Pacific Ocean, herein and hereinafter referred to as the Union
Islands, were, together with all small islands, islets, rocks, and
reefs depending on them, annexed to His Majesty's Dominions
and the boundaries of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony
were extended so as to include the said Union Islands and
their dependencies :
And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of the said
colony should be further altered so as to exclude the said
Islands and their Dependencies :
Now, THEREFORE, His Majesty, by virtue and in exercise
of the powers by the Colonial Boundaries Act, 1895, or otherwise in His Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice
of His Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as
follows :-—
I. From and after the Proclamation of this Order in the
Western Pacific High Commission Gazette the boundaries of
the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony shall be altered so as to
exclude the said Union Islands and their Dependencies.
II. This Order may be cited as 'The Union Islands (No. 1)
Order in Council, 1925.'

WHEREAS by an Order of His Majesty in Council bearing
even date herewith and known as 'The Union Islands (No. 1)
Order in Council, 1925,' provision has been made for altering
the boundaries of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony so as
to exclude certain islands in the Pacific Ocean therein and
hereinafter referred to as the Union Islands and their Dependencies :
And whereas it is expedient that further provision should
be made for the peace, order, and good government of the
said Islands; which are specified in the Schedule to this Order,
in the manner hereinafter provided :
Now, THEREFORE, His Majesty, by virtue and in exercise
of the powers in His Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with
the advice of His Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby
ordered, as follows :-—
I. From and after the publication of this Order in the
Government Gazette of the Dominion of New Zealand the
Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominion
of New Zealand for the time being (hereinafter called the
Governor-General) shall be the Governor of the Union Islands,
and in the event of the death or incapacity of the said
Governor-General, or in the event of his absence from the
said Dominion, the officer for the time being administering
the government of the Dominion shall be Governor for the
time being of the Union Islands.
II. The Governor-General in Council is hereby authorized
and empowered to make all such laws, rules, and regulations
as may lawfully be made by His Majesty's authority for the
peace, order, and good government of the said Islands, and it
shall be lawful for the Governor-General in Council to delegate
the said authority and power to the Administrator of the
Territory of Western Samoa or some other fit officer, as the
Governor-General in Council may determine.
III. The said Administrator or other officer shall exercise
the authority and power delegated to him as aforesaid, subject
to any instructions which he may from time to time receive
from the Governor-General in Council, and any laws, rules,
or regulations made by him in pursuance of such delegated
authority and power shall be subject to disallowance by the
Governor-General in Council.
IV. All laws in force in the Union Islands at the time when
this Order shall take effect shall continue in operation until
repealed or altered by laws, rules, or regulations made as
herein provided, and all powers and authorities which by
such laws as aforesaid are vested in the High Commissioner
for the Western Pacific and officers appointed by him shall
be vested in and exerciseable by the Governor-General and
the officers appointed by him.
V. This Order may be cited as 'The Union Islands (No. 2)
Order in Council, 1925.'

WRITTEN tenders will be received up to noon on the
31st August, 1926, at the office of the Railway
Board, Wellington, New Zealand, for the erection of new
locomotive workshops at Hutt Valley, near Wellington.
Plans, specifications, and conditions of contract may be
seen at the offices enumerated below :-—
United Kingdom The office of the High Commissioner
for New Zealand in London.
Canada .. The office of the Department of Labour,
Ottawa.
Australia . The New Zealand Government Offices,
Sydney and Melbourne.
New Zealand .. The Chief Engineer's office, Railway
Buildings, Wellington.
The Railway Engineer's office at Auckland, Wanganui, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill.
The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
Telegraphic tenders will not be considered.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-order and Transmission of
Postal Correspondence in New Zealand for 'Western Thousand' Art Union, Sydney.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand
having reasonable ground for supposing that the persons whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of any of the said persons shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to any of the said persons (either by his or her own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to any of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,

whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or
scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of
the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in
favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no
postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own
or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the
address in the Schedule without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
