tion of the secretary of the Lakes District Acclimatization
Society, on payment of a license fee of £4, in the form pre-
scribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said
Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. Pro-
vided that not more than one such license shall be issued to
the same person.

  1. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-
    patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such
    deer.

  2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either
    himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing
    any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  4. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of
    deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the
    Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the
    New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall
    be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto,
    shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Lakes
    District Acclimatization Society, Queenstown, immediately
    he has finished stalking for the season for which such
    “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the
    number of deer shot.

  5. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags and
    hinds shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer
    stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used by any
    registered acclimatization society for acclimatization pur-
    poses, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any
    land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring
    an open season for the district.

  6. The licensee must give notice to the said Postmaster of
    the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such
    notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear
    days before such date.

  7. Any person committing a breach of any of these condi-
    tions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area known as the Aspiring, Upper Wanaka,
Wilkins, and Matukituki Districts.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).

, of , having this day paid the sum of
£4, is hereby authorized to take or kill red-deer stags and
hinds within that part of the Lakes District Acclima-
tization District known as the Aspiring, Upper Wanaka,
Wilkins, and Matukituki Districts, from the 31st day of
March, 1926, to the 21st day of May, 1926 (both
days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and
notifications affecting red-deer stags and hinds made there-
under and in force within the said district.

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take
or kill red-deer stags or hinds on lands actually and ex-
clusively used by any registered acclimatization society for
acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public
domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the
notification declaring an open season for the district.

Open Season for Red-deer Shooting, Lakes District
Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis
Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 31st
day of March, 1926, to the 21st day of May, 1926 (both
days inclusive), to be an open season in the Lakes District
Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the
following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and hinds—
within that part of the said acclimatization district de-
scribed in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following
conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds may be
    issued by the Postmaster at Queenstown, on the recom-
    mendation of the secretary of the Lakes District Acclima-
    tization Society, on payment of a license fee of £4, in the
    form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject
    to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this noti-
    fication. Provided that not more than one such license shall
    be issued to the same person.
