Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following
appointments in the Public Service:—
Cedric Victor Fordham, Esq.,
to be Registrar of the Native Land Court and Maori Land
Board for the Ikaroa and the South Island Native Land
Districts, for the purposes of the Native Land Act, 1909, and
its amendments, as from the 1st day of January, 1926.
William Ewart Gladstone, Esq.,
to be the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of
Chalmers, for the purposes of the Legislature Act, 1908, as
from the 2nd day of February, 1926.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.
Wellington, 8th February, 1926.
THE following notices receive from the Chairman of the
Council of the County of Waimairi, are published in
accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1913.

WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Loan of £5,500.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the
Bryndwr Park Special Loan Area, in the Waimairi County,
was taken on the 12th day of January, 1926, on the proposal
of the Waimairi County Council to borrow the sum of £5,500
for the purpose of acquiring land for a park.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 86 ; the
number of votes recorded against the proposal was 68.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
Loan of £9,000.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the
North Papanui Channelling Special Loan Area, in the County
of Waimairi, was taken on the 12th day of January, 1926,
on the proposal of the Waimairi County Council to borrow
the sum of £9,000 for the purpose of concrete kerbing and
channelling.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 16 ; the
number of votes recorded against the proposal was 10.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Board of the Horahia Drainage District, is published
in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1913.

HORAHIA DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Horahia Drainage District taken on the 21st day of January,
1926, on the proposal of the Horohia Drainage Board to
borrow the sum of £15,500 for the purpose of providing im-
proved drainage for the benefit of the Horohia Drainage Dis-
trict,—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 103 ;
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 40.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Boundaries of Subdivisions.

THE following special order, made by the Horahia
Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1920.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT whereas the Horahia Drainage Board, by special order
made on the 20th day of March, 1925, subdivided the Hora-
hia Drainage District into three subdivisions named and
described in the said special order : Now, therefore, in
exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 16 of the
Land Drainage Act, 1908, and sections 3 of the Land Drainage
Amendment Act, 1908, the Horahia Drainage Board hereby
resolves by way of special order to alter the boundaries of
the said subdivisions as follows :—
Central Subdivision.—All that land in the Horahia Drainage
District bounded—Commencing at a point on the right bank
of the Piako River at the intersection of a drain commonly
called the Shell Bank Drain ; thence along the centre of the
Shell Bank Drain in an easterly direction to and across a
public road called the Kopuarahi-Kerepehi Road to the
point of its intersection with the Kopuarahi-Turua Road ;
thence along the centre of the Kopuarahi-Turua Road in an
easterly direction to the eastern boundary of the Horahia
Drainage District ; thence southerly along the eastern bound-
ary of Lots 2, 3, and 4, D.P. 12921, to the centre of a public
road called the Orchard East Road ; thence generally westerly
along the centre of the Orchard East Road to its intersection
with the right bank of the Piako River ; thence generally in
a northerly direction by the right bank of the Piako River
to the point of commencement.
Northern Subdivision.—All that land in the Horahia Drain-
age District lying to the northward of the Central Subdivi-
sion hereinbefore described.
