acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive

the rate of interest that may be paid by the Horowhenua
County Council in respect of the said loan of three hundred
pounds shall be a rate not exceeding five and a quarter per
centum per annum, and the said Horowhenua County Council
is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of three hundred
pounds accordingly.

Mataura Borough Council in respect of a Loan of £1,257,
authorized to be raised for the Purpose of completing the
Construction of Waterworks.

WHEREAS by section eleven of the Finance Act, 1921,
and its amendments, it is provided that, notwith-
standing anything to the contrary in any Act or in any rule
of law, where a local authority or public body has been autho-
rized before the passing of the said Act, or is thereafter autho-
rized, to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of rate-
payers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest
or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or
determined, and such money or any part thereof has not
been borrowed, the local authority may, with the precedent
consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such money, or
such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at such rate
of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed by the
Governor-General by Order in Council :
And whereas the Mataura Borough Council has been
authorized to borrow the sum of twelve thousand five hundred
pounds for waterworks, and is now desirous of borrowing
an additional sum of one thousand two hundred and fifty
pounds under the authority of section eighteen of the Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of completing the
undertaking :
And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent
consent as required by the above-recited section eleven, and
it is desired that the rate of interest at which the money
may be borrowed be not exceeding six per centum per
annum :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that
the rate of interest that may be paid by the Mataura Borough
Council in respect of the said loan of one thousand two
hundred and fifty pounds shall be a rate not exceeding six
per centum per annum, and the said Mataura Borough Council
is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of one thousand
two hundred and fifty pounds accordingly.

Prescribing the Term for which the Dannevirke Electric-power
Board may borrow the Sum of £25,000, being a Portion of a
Loan of £175,000 authorized to be raised for Electric Works,
and also the Rate of Interest payable thereon.

eleven, and it is desired that the term for which the money
may be borrowed be twenty years, and the rate of interest
payable thereon be not exceeding six per centum per annum :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the term for
which the Dannevirke Electric-power Board may borrow the
said twenty-five thousand pounds shall be twenty years, and
the rate of interest that may be paid thereon shall be a rate
not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said Danne-
vi rke Electric-power Board is hereby authorized to borrow the
said sum of twenty-five thousand pounds accordingly.

Notice of Taking of Land in the City of Wellington for the
Purposes of a Public Work.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by section one hundred and forty-one and
one hundred and forty-two of the Harbours Act, 1923, and
of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in
this behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
hereby, on behalf of His Majesty the King, give notice to
the Wellington Harbour Board that, one month from the
date hereof, I shall enter upon and take possession of the
land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a
public work.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected : 1 rood
37.2 perches, being portion of Lot 23, D.P. 4798, Part of
Block IX, Reserve K, Te Aro Reclamation.
Situated in the City of Wellington. (S.O. 2061.)
In the Wellington Land District ; as the same is more par-
ticularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 65325, de-
posited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Well ing-
ton, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered
pink.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 8th day of February, 1926.

Opening Settlement Land in Otago Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the
Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selec-
tion on renewable lease on Tuesday, the sixteenth day of
March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, at
the rental mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also
declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject
to the provisions of the said Acts.
