Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Waihi and the Counties of Ohinemuri and Tauranga.

Wellington, 22nd October, 1926.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Borough of Waihi are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Proclamation dated the 29th day of May, 1926, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and published in Gazette No. 36, of the 4th day of June, 1926.

And also in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Counties of Ohinemuri and Tauranga affected by the said Proclamation dated the 29th day of May, 1926, are hereby defined as set out under their respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto.

And also in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the ridings of Waihi and Katikati affected by the said Proclamation dated the 29th day of May, 1926, are hereby defined as set out under their respective headings in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF WAIHI.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the west generally by the Waitete Stream from its confluence with the Ohinemuri River to its intersection with the northern boundary of Section 29, Block XV, Ohinemuri Survey District; towards the north by a right line running due east to the north-western corner of Section 9, Block XV aforesaid; thence towards the west by a right line 4500 links in length, bearing 0° 21′; towards the north-east by a right line through Section 75 of the aforesaid Block XV to the south-western corner of a former reserve for water-conservation, about 810 links; towards the north generally by that reserve through Sections 75 and 91 of the aforesaid Block XV, across a road, through Section 17 of Block XI of the aforesaid survey district, to the eastern boundary of the said Section 17; towards the west by that boundary to its intersection with the northern boundary of Section 1, Block XI aforesaid; towards the north-west by a right line to the Waihi Gold-mining Company’s Dam on Walmsley’s Creek; towards the north generally by the said creek to its confluence with the Ohinemuri River; towards the east and south generally by that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Suburban Allotment 25; towards the south-east by a right line to the easternmost corner of that allotment; towards the north-east by the road forming the north-eastern boundary-lines of Suburban Allotment 24 and Sections 83, 89, 88, 87, 86, 110, and 131 of Block XVI of the said survey district to the Waihi Beach Road; thence towards the south-west and south by that road to Tauranga Road; towards the north-east by the south-western side of that road to the north-western boundary of Suburban Allotment 39; towards the south-east by that allotment and the production of its north-western boundary-line to the Waimata Stream; towards the west and south generally by that stream and the Ohinemuri River to the place of commencement.

Also all the above-mentioned Waihi Beach Road, extending from the aforesaid Tauranga Road to the sea passing through Blocks XVI, Ohinemuri, IV, Aroha, I, Katikati North, and III, Waihi North Survey Districts.

Also all that area of land being part of Waihi No. 2, Waihi No. 3, and part of Waihi No. 5 Blocks, as shown on certificate of title, Volume 386, folio 245, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland (Survey Office plan No. 20870).

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF OHINEMURI.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north-east by the sea from the mouth of the Otahu River to the north-eastern boundary of Part Waihi No. 2 Block; thence by the said north-eastern and north-western boundaries of the aforesaid block and the south-western boundaries of 3 and part 5 of the aforesaid Waihi Block (which said blocks are included in Waihi Borough—S.O. plan No. 20870), to a point in line with the mouth of the Waihi River and Te Aroha Mountain; thence by that line to Te Aroha Mountain; thence towards the south by a right line running due west to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Te Aroha; thence by that borough to where it meets the Waihou River; thence towards the west in a northerly direction by the centre of the said river to the south-eastern corner of the Hauraki Plains County (as described in Gazette, 1923, page 823); thence by the eastern boundary of the said county to the confluence of the Waihou and Hikutaia Rivers; thence towards the north by the southern boundary of the County of Thames (as described in the Second Schedule to the Hauraki Plains, Thames, Ohinemuri, and Piako Counties Act, 1919) to the mouth of the Otahu River, the place of commencement; excluding the Boroughs of Waihi and Paeroa.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF TAURANGA.

Bounded towards the north-east generally by the ocean from the south-eastern corner of part of Waihi No. 5 Block (part of Waihi Borough) to a point on the coast north of Trig. Station J–1 (Otamarakau) in Block IV, Waihi South Survey District; thence towards the east by a line running due south through the aforesaid Trig. Station J–1 to a point due east of Trig. Station 1039, Otanewainuku; thence towards the south by a straight line running due west through the aforesaid Trig. Station 1039 to a point on a straight line joining Trig. Station 27, Puwhenua, and Trig. Station 146, Te Weraiti; thence towards the south-west by the aforesaid straight line to the aforesaid Trig. Station 146; thence towards the north-east by a straight line to Trig. Station 909, Wai-anuaniu; towards the south-west by the north-eastern boundary of the Okauia No. 1 Block “A” portion; towards the north-west by Crown land; towards the south-west generally by lines drawn from hill to hill along the summit of the range forming the western boundary of the Tauranga Confiscated District to the Confiscation-line; towards the south-east by the aforesaid Confiscation-line to Trig. 567, Te Aroha; thence towards the north-west by the Ohinemuri County to the Waihi Beach Road, across that road, and again by the Ohinemuri County to the western boundary of the aforesaid part of Waihi No. 5 Block (part of Waihi Borough); thence towards the east by the western boundary of the aforesaid part of Waihi No. 5 Block; across a public road (the Waihi Beach Road aforesaid), and towards the north by the southern boundary of the aforesaid part of Waihi No. 5 Block to the south-eastern corner, the place of commencement: save and excepting the Borough of Tauranga, the Town District of Te Puke, and that portion of the Waihi Beach Road (part of Borough of Waihi) which lies within the above-described boundaries.

THIRD SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE RIDING OF WAIHI.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri County, commencing at the south-western corner of Section 8, Block XII, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence by the west and part of the north-east boundary of Section 8 aforesaid; thence by the south-east boundaries of Sections 20 and 6, Block XII of aforesaid survey district; across a road and by the south and part east boundaries of Section 16 of the said Block XII; across a road and by the south boundaries of Sections 15, 17, and 1 (Uriwha Reserve) of said Block XII, and the east boundary of the said Section 1 to and by the south boundary of Mataora Block to the east boundary of the Ohinemuri County; thence by the said east and the south-east boundaries of the said county, above described, across the Waihi Beach Road to the Waikino Riding; thence by the said Waikino Riding and the centre of the Ohinemuri River to the Waihi Borough as above described; thence by the said borough of Waihi, across the Waihi Beach Road, to the place of commencement; save and excepting the portion of Waihi Beach Road which lies within the above-described area.

BOUNDARIES OF THE RIDING OF KATIKATI.

All that area in the Land District of Auckland bounded towards the north-east by the ocean from the north-eastern corner of Tauranga County (hereinbefore described) to the Tauranga entrance; thence by the Tauranga entrance aforesaid and Tauranga Harbour to the Aongatete River, excluding Motuhoa Island; thence towards the south-east by a line along the middle of that river and a line along the middle of the Kauritutaki River to the source of the latter river; thence by a right line, bearing about 247° west, to the county boundary; thence towards the south-west and north-west by the aforesaid county boundary to the place of commencement: save and excepting that portion of the Waihi Beach Road (part of Borough of Waihi) which lies within the above-described area.
