Notice to Mariners No. 55 of 1926.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—WEST COAST.—MANUKAU HABBOUR ENTRANCE.

- Paratutai : Light to be installed.
- Windy Point : Unlighted beacons realigned.
- Main lighted leading beacons : Amended transit.
- Destruction Gully : Light to be discontinued.
- Destruction Gully : White Patch to be obliterated.
- Directions for entering.
THE Auckland Harbour Board notify that, owing to recent alterations in the channels and banks at the entrance to Manukau Harbour, the undermentioned changes in navigational 'aids' will take place, and will come into operation on and after the evening of Monday, 1st November, 1926 :
- Paratutai Light (Unwatched).—A flashing light, having red, white, and green sectors, 12 seconds, flash 4 seconds, 25 ft., visible 8 miles, will be exhibited from the extreme southern end of Paratutai. The light shows red from 237° to 253°, white thence to 261°, green thence to 050°, white thence to 057°, red thence to 077°, obscured elsewhere.
Position: From Paratutai light, South Head Signal-station flagstaff bears 095½°, and South Head Lighthouse 116°.

Windy Point Unlighted Beacons.—Two white beacons, at Pigeonhole, northward of the entrance, have been realigned for use as day marks only, and will be in transit 032½°.

Main Lighted Leading Beacons.—Amending Wellington Notice to Mariners No. 36 of 1926, the alignment of these beacons at South Head in transit is 069½°.

Destruction Gully Light.—This light, at the northern side within the entrance, will be discontinued.

Destruction Gully White Patch.—This white patch, at the northern side within the entrance, is to be obliterated.

Directions for Entering.—During night-time : Vessels should cross the main bar with the main leading-beacon lights at South Head in transit 069½°, continuing until well within the white sector of Paratutai light; thence altering course to pass Paratutai light, keeping within the white sector of that light until approaching Paratutai as closely as may be necessary.
During daytime: Vessels should cross the main bar with the main leading-beacons in transit 069½°, continuing until Windy Point beacons are in transit 032½°; thence altering course to pass Paratutai. The signal-station should be kept under close observation, and any directional instructions given by semaphore or otherwise should be promptly complied with.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
H.M.S. "Veronica" reports having located a shoal having a radius of 50 yards and a least depth of 4 fathoms in latitude 17° 47' 26" south and longitude 177° 16' 24" east, bearing 115½ degrees from Vatumbula Island, and distant therefrom 3·2 miles.

Dredger operating off Sheerlegs Wharf.
THE Auckland Harbour Board notify that the dredger "Hapai" is operating in the vicinity and southward and south-eastward of the new extension to Sheerlegs Wharf, Devonport. Care must be observed to avoid the dredger's moorings which are laid cardinally.
