Regulations under the Naval Defence Act, 1913, amended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of August, 1926.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me

by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other

powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, General Sir Charles

Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,

acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the

said Dominion, do hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred

to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATIONS FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND PAYMENT OF THE NEW ZEALAND

DIVISION OF THE ROYAL NAVY.

Add new regulation No. 15a:-

“Ranks and Ratings suffering from Venereal Disease.

“15A. Ranks and ratings sick on shore or sent to hospital suffering from

venereal disease, or from disabilities which are the result of the member’s

own misconduct, carelessness, or neglect, shall be placed on half-pay at the

expiration of thirty days, and cease pay at the expiration of ninety-one days.

“All such ranks and ratings again checked sick on shore or in hospital,

within fourteen days from expiration of their previous period of sickness on

shore or in hospital, shall be considered as being under continuous treat-

ment, but only these days actually so checked shall be counted for the pur-

poses of reduced pay in accordance with the terms specified above.

“The term ‘hospital’ includes the Naval sick quarters at Devonport.”

In regulation No. 41, cancel the actual rates of messing and victualling

allowances, and insert “as promulgated by Navy Order from time to time.”

In regulation No. 42, first paragraph, cancel the actual rate of general

mess allowance, and insert “as promulgated by Navy Order from time to

time.”

In regulation No. 52, second paragraph, after “New Zealand” in

5th line, add “or from ship to residence in England, as the case may be.”

Appendix III.-Accountant Staff: Clerical Duties, Victualling, &c.

Shorthand and typewriting : Cancel from “Shorthand” in 3rd line to

“9d.” in 4th line, and substitute-

New Zealand Gazette No. 40, 28th April, 1921.

In regulation No. 1, Article 807, delete from “Article” to “read” in

3rd line.

In regulation No. 6 delete the words “provided that any such term is

not less than two years.”
