Alterations to Scale of Charges in force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of charges in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic made on the 10th day of August, 1925, and published in the Gazette of 11th August, 1925:—
PART I.—PASSENGERS.
LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.
By omitting from subparagraph (a), paragraph 5, of Regulation 41 the following :—

8A. The journey may be commenced at any time within the period of the availability of the ticket, and must be completed before the expiry of such period.

PART II.—LUGGAGE, PARCELS, HORSES, ETC.
By omitting from Regulation 15 the following :—
- Where special trains are run to convey racehorses, hunters, or polo-ponies to or from race or hunt meetings or polo matches the minimum charge will be as for forty horses at express-train rates, computed on the mileage special train is run.
And substituting the following :—

Where a special train is run to convey racehorses, hunters, or polo-ponies to or from a race or hunt meeting or polo match, such special train will require to be guaranteed at a rate of 14s. per mile, computed on the mileage the special train is run, minimum charge, £8.

Where the total revenue from passenger and horse traffic conveyed by the special train is less than the charges specified in paragraph 17 of this regulation the deficiency must be paid by the guarantors of the special train.

The distance which a special train has to run empty to commence a service will be charged at the rate of 7s. 6d. per mile.
By adding the words “Except where otherwise specified” immediately before the words “if a bogie wagon is required” on the third line of paragraph 4 of regulation 16.
By adding the words “Except where otherwise specified” immediately before the words “If a bogie wagon is required” in the last line of paragraph 5 of regulation 16.
By adding to Regulation 16 the following :—
5A. Where a motor-vehicle is too long to permit of it being loaded in a four-wheeled wagon, thus necessitating the use of a bogie wagon for its conveyance and another motor-vehicle from the same forwarding station to the same destination station is available and can be loaded in the same bogie wagon the railage charges on each motor-vehicle may be computed (irrespective of whether such vehicle is from the same consignor to the same consignee) as would be the case if each vehicle was loaded in a four-wheeled wagon.
