it is desired that the rate of interest at which the money may
be borrowed be not exceeding six per centum per annum:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the rate of
interest that may be paid by the Shannon Borough Council
in respect of the said loan of seven hundred pounds shall be a
rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said
Shannon Borough Council is hereby authorized to borrow the
said sum of seven hundred pounds accordingly.

Municipal Corporations Act, 1920.—Authorizing Investment
of Reserve Funds in certain Securities.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 9th day of
August, 1926.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty-three
of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920 (hereinafter
referred to as “the said Act”), it is enacted that a Borough
Council may invest any part of a reserve fund established
by that Council under the said section in respect of any
trading undertaking in such securities other than those
mentioned in the said section as may be authorized by
the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas it is desirable that a Borough Council should
be authorized to invest a reserve fund as aforesaid in the
securities hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority conferred upon him by the said
section one hundred and twenty-three, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize a Borough Council
to invest any part of a reserve fund in manner following, that
is to say:—
(a.) In the bonds, debentures, or other securities of any
Municipal Corporation or County Council, or Water-
supply Board, or River Board in New Zealand, other
than securities of the Borough Council making the
investment:
(b.) In advances by way of first mortgage on real se-
curities in New Zealand:
(c.) In the Common Fund of the Public Trust Office.

Deer to cease to be Imported Game in certain Additional
Portions of North Canterbury and Southland Acclimatiza-
tion Districts.

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the eighth day of
November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
three, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 80, of the
same month, made under the Animals Protection and Game
Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), deer
were declared to cease to be included in the Second Schedule
to the said Act with respect to portions of certain acclimatisa-
tion districts:
And whereas it is considered desirable to extend the
provisions of the said Warrant so as to include certain
additional portions of the North Canterbury and Southland
Acclimatization Districts:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me
by the said Act, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
hereby declare that on and from the date hereof deer shall
cease to be included in the Second Schedule of the said Act
with respect to those additional portions of the North Canter-
bury and Southland Acclimatization Districts set out in the
Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
NORTH CANTERBURY ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
The watershed of the Poulter and Esk Rivers and that
portion of the Craigieburn Run lying between the Waimaka-
riri River and the Midland Railway line.

SOUTHLAND ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
Stewart Island.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 4th day of August. 1926.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of
September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at
the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also
declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to
section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act, as it
contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable
stone.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Kawhia County.—Kawhia South Survey District.
SECTION 10, Block VI : Area, 460 acres 2 roods ; capital
value, £1,110 ; half-yearly rent, £22 4s.
Distant about thirty-five miles from Hangatiki Railway-
station, four miles from Taumatatotara School, and eleven
miles from Marakopa Dairy Factory. Comprises 200 acres
bush land, felled and grassed, going back to second growth,
balance in bush ; watered by streams. The section has been
subdivided into two paddocks, and is suitable for grazing
purposes. Access may also be obtained from Kawhia, about
seventeen miles distant, seven miles of which is by launch
to Kinohaku.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 3rd day of August, 1926.

conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the
Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of
September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at the
rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare
that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the
provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—FIRST-
CLASS LAND.
Hauraki Plains County.—Waitoa Survey District.—Otiay
Settlement.
SECTIONS 13 and 14, Block VII ; Area, 60 acres ; capital
value, £420 ; half-yearly rent, £10 10s.
Weighted with £330, value of buildings, comprising dwell-
ing, five rooms (good timber). Repayable in cash or in
fifteen years by half-yearly instalments of £15 17s. 11d.,
including interest and principal.
This property is situated about ten miles and a half from
Te Aroha, seven miles from Waihou Railway-station, and four
miles to Tirohia Railway-station. There is a dairy factory
at Te Aroha and a school at Elston, three miles distant.
Comprises 4 acres in pasture, 15 acres tea-tree (felled and
