Constituting the Borough of Upper Hutt, County of Hutt.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-one of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, a petition was presented to the Governor-General praying that the area described in the said petition be constituted a new borough :
And whereas a Commission appointed under the said section one hundred and thirty-one held inquiries, and recommended certain alterations of the said area :
And whereas the provisions of the said section one hundred and thirty-one have been complied with in respect thereto, and the result of the poll taken on the proposal contained in the said petition was in favour thereof :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto shall be constituted a borough under the said Act on and from the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six ; that the name of such borough shall be the Borough of Upper Hutt ; the said borough shall be divided into two wards, to be called the East Ward and the West Ward, the boundaries whereof shall be those described respectively in the Second Schedule hereto ; that the number of Councillors to be elected to the Council of the said borough shall be eight, exclusive of the Mayor ; and that five members shall represent the East Ward thereof, and three members shall represent the West Ward thereof :
And I do further proclaim and declare that Lionel Francis Grimstone, of Upper Hutt, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough ; and that the said Lionel Francis Grimstone shall be the Town Clerk and the person to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the said first election :
And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall be held on Wednesday, the twenty-fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, and that the first meeting of the Council of the said borough shall be held on Friday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at eight oβclock in the afternoon, at the office of the Upper Hutt Town Board, Upper Hutt.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BOROUGH OF UPPER HUTT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Hutt River in line with the eastern boundary of Section 121, Hutt District ; thence to and along that boundary to the south-eastern corner of the said Section 121 ; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that section to the eastern boundary of Section 217, Hutt District ; thence southerly along that bound-
ary to the south-eastern corner of the said Section 217 ; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of Sections 217, 128, 127, 126, and 125, Hutt District, to the public road forming the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section ; thence across that road and north-westerly along its south-western side to its intersection with the southern side of the Wellington-Wairarapa Railway ; thence south-westerly along the southern side of that railway to No. 2 Line, forming the western boundary of Section 99, Hutt District ; thence southerly along the eastern side of that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary-line of Section 100, Hutt District ; thence to and along that boundary to the north-western corner of the said Section 100 ; thence along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Section 101, Hutt District to No. 1 Line, across No. 1 Line, and north-westerly along its western side to the north-eastern corner of Section 192 ; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the land shown on plan A. 2236 deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington, to its south-eastern corner ; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the land shown on the aforesaid A. 2236 for a distance of 446Β·3 links ; thence along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the land shown on certificates of title, Vol. 236, folio 231, and Vol. 208, folio 239, to the Main Hutt Road ; thence across that road and north-easterly along its northern side to the western boundary of the land shown on conveyance 54243 D.R. 91/953, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington ; thence north-westerly along that boundary to the left bank of the Hutt River ; thence generally north-easterly along the left bank of the Hutt River to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
EAST WARD.
ALL that area bounded on the north, north-east, and south-west by the borough boundary (hereinbefore described) from the northernmost corner of Section 92, Hutt Registration District, to the north-eastern boundary of Section 99, Hutt Registration District ; thence towards the north-west by Sections 99 and 95 to and across the Main Road ; thence towards the north-west by the north-western side of that road to the easternmost corner of Section 92 aforesaid ; and thence towards the south-west by that section to the northernmost corner of Section 92, the place of commencement.
WEST WARD.
All that area bounded on the north-east generally by the East Ward (hereinbefore described), and on the east, south, and west generally by the borough boundary (hereinbefore described).
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 26th day of January, 1926.
