NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR A QUARRY.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Whangarei County Council proposes in exercise of the powers in that behalf vested in it by the Public Works Act, 1908, and its amendments, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of a public work—namely, for a metal-quarry, and that a plan of the land so proposed to be taken is open for inspection at the County Office, Whangarei, during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the said taking, and having any well-grounded objection thereto or to the taking of the said land, are hereby called upon to set forth such objection in writing to the Whangarei County Council within forty days from the 26th day of May, 1926, being the date of the first publication of this notice.
THE SCHEDULE.
Area of land required to be taken : 1 acre 2 roods 31.1 perches,
being portion of Section part 36, Block V, Purua Survey District; coloured on plan, blue.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly Societies has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act, 1909, by writing under his hand dated this 24th day of May, 1926, cancelled the registry of Pioneer of Motu Lodge, No. 32, of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of New Zealand Friendly Society (Register No. 146/128), held at Motu, on the ground that the said branch has ceased to exist.

RESOLUTIONS MAKING SPECIAL RATES.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Otahuhu Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :-
Loan of £11,000.
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £11,000, authorized to be raised by the Otahuhu Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the permanent construction in concrete at permanent levels of Mangere Road from its junction with Walmsley Road to the railway crossing and the formation at permanent levels of two footpaths therein from the Nixon Monument to the said railway crossing, the said Otahuhu Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of thirteen-sixteenths (13/16ths) of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the rating district, comprising the whole of the Borough of Otahuhu ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 364 years or until the loan is fully paid off.
Loan of £7,600.
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £7,600, authorized to be raised by the Otahuhu Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of erecting Council chambers and accommodation for the Otahuhu Fire Brigade, also the erection of a men's convenience, the purchase of a fire-motor and equipment, the erection of sheds for the borough plant, and the removal and re-erection of the borough fire-bell, the said Otahuhu Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of nine-sixteenths (9/16ths) of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the rating district, comprising the whole of the Borough of Otahuhu ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 364 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
