SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Wallace County.—Jacob’s River Hundred—Ermedale Settlement.
SECTION 21, Block XIII: Area, 171 acres 1 rood 15 perches; capital value, £580; half-yearly rent, £14 10s.
Weighted with £300, valuation for cottage, outbuildings, and fencing; to be paid for in cash.
Undulating land suitable for mixed farming; about 60 acres still in native bush. Situated six miles from Fairfax Railway-station by good road.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of May, 1926.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Egmont County.—Cape Survey District.
SECTION 120, Block XII: Area, 105 acres. Capital value, £1,050. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £26 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £21.
Situated on the Main South Road about twenty-seven miles from New Plymouth. It is situated about one mile from the Pungarehu Dairy Factory and school. Well watered by springs. Comprises for the most part level land with low hillocks spread over the property. About 30 acres requires draining and about 35 acres is in bracken, fern, rushes, &c. The balance comprises fair pasture. Soil is of a fair to good quality.
Improvements.—The improvements, which are included in the capital value, comprises four-roomed dwelling, cow-shed, and about 80 chains of fencing, of a total value of £220.
Waitomo County.—Mapara Survey District.
Section 10, Block VII: Area, 430 acres 3 roods 35 perches. Capital value, £645. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £16 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent: £12 18s.
Weighted with £885, valuation for improvements, consisting of three-roomed dwelling and yards, about 260 acres felled and grassed, and about 280 chains fencing. This amount must be paid in cash or taken over on mortgage to Superintendent, State Advances Department.
Situated on the Kurakura Road. Access is from Kopaki Railway-station, seven miles distant, by good metalled road. Comprises about 170 acres of bush land, balance felled and grassed, but this is reverting to second growth. Soil is of a medium to poor quality, resting on sandstone formation. Well watered by springs. Altitude, 750 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Whangamomona County.—Mahoe Survey District.
Section 1, Block XIV: Area, 486 acres. Capital value, £245. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent: £4 18s.
Weighted with £110, valuation for improvements, comprising fencing and whare. This amount must be paid for in cash or taken over on mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Department.
Situated on the Kohi Road, Aotuhia. Access is from Whangamomona, which is about fourteen miles distant by good road, about six miles of which has been metalled. Comprises rough broken country, 260 acres of which has been felled and grassed, but this has reverted to second growth, remainder in bush. Soil is of a light loam, resting on papa and sandstone formation. Well watered by running streams.
Stratford County.—Huiroa Survey District.
Section 13, Block VIII: Area, 435 acres. Capital value, £360. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £9. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 4s.
Situated about ten miles from Tarata on the Autawa Road. Fair pastoral land. About half the area has been felled and grassed, but this has reverted to second growth. The balance is all in light bush, tawhero predominating. Well watered.
The improvements, comprising about 20 chains of fencing and a whare, are valued at £30, and are included in the capital value.
Stratford County.—Taurakawa and Mahoe Survey Districts.
Sections 1 to 5, Block II, Taurakawa Survey District, and 2 to 4, Block XIV, Mahoe Survey District: Area, 1,597 acres. Capital value, £1,140. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £28 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £22 16s.
Weighted with £460, valuation for improvements, comprising 310 acres felling and grassing, 30 chains of fencing, and whare. This sum is to be paid in cash or may be taken over on mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Office.
Situated on the Mount Humphries Road, about twenty-three miles and a half from Douglas Railway-station. Soil is of fair quality, resting on sandstone formation. Well watered. The area which has been felled and grassed is reverting to second growth. The bush remaining unfelled consists of rimu, rata, hinau, and a little tawa in the gullies, with tawhero predominating over the majority of the area.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Inglewood County.—Huiroa Survey District.—Ratapiko Settlement.
SECTION 2s, Block VI: Area, 130 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £940; £360.* Half-yearly rent, £23 10s.; £14 0s. 9d.†
- Valuation for buildings.
† Half-yearly instalment of interest and principal on buildings, comprising five-roomed dwelling and cow-shed, valued at £360, payable in cash or in twenty-one years by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £14 0s. 9d. Total half-yearly payment on lease, £37 10s. 9d.
Situated about five miles and a half from Tariki by good metalled road. Soil is of a light volcanic loam resting on papa and sandstone formation. It is fairly well watered by streams and springs. About 70 acres are in fern and second growth. The valuation for approximately 200 chains of fencing is included in the capital value.
