As required by section 100 of the Counties Act, 1920, I hereby certify that the description of the boundary between the North Riding and the proposed Amberley Riding of the Kowai County and the description of the South Riding of the same county as indicated in the schedule attached hereto and submitted by the Kowai County Council in conformity with its resolution of the 12th day of February, 1926, are correct and sufficient to render the new boundaries capable of identification.

Empire Day to be observed as a Holiday on King's Birthday.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Manukau, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Papatoetoe Riding of the County of Manukau taken on the 8th day of April, 1926, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to borrow the sum of £17,700 for the purpose of regrading, culverting, draining, and providing foundations and shoulders, constructing and paving with cement concrete, and the completing of those portions of the Great South Road Main Highway situated within the boundaries of the Papatoetoe Riding of the County of Manukau.--

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 548; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 17; informal, 1.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

BOROUGH OF HAMILTON.

Water and Sewer Drainage Loan of £18,400.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, and their amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Maeroa Special-rating Area of the Borough of Hamilton taken on the 30th day of March, 1926, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £18,400--

For laying, constructing, supplying, and fitting mains, pipes, machinery, meters, fittings, and appliances for the supply of water ... 6,500

For making and constructing sewer drains and drainage-works ... 11,900

£18,400

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 93; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 86.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Streets and Stormwater Drainage Loan of £13,500.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, and their amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Maeroa Special-rating Area of the Borough of Hamilton taken on the 30th day of March, 1926, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £13,500--

For forming, paving, metalling, and improving streets, including laying down and constructing same with bituminous compounds or otherwise 10,275

For making and constructing drains and drainage-works for drainage surface water ... 3,225

£13,500

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 75; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 102.

I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists' Shops within the Borough of Oamaru.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists' shops within the Borough of Oamaru has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows--On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5.45 p.m., and on Friday at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions--(1) On the evening of the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the evening of the working-day that first precedes New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; (2) on the evening of any day that is observed as a holiday by the majority of the occupiers of shops within the said borough the closing-hour shall be 8 p.m.:

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 3rd day of May, 1926, all the chemists' shops within the Borough of Oamaru shall be closed accordingly.

The notice dated the 25th April, 1917, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th April, 1917, fixing the closing-hours of chemists' shops in the Borough of Oamaru, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-order and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand in connection with Duggan's Dublin Sweeps.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
