the plantation, and such trees shall not be cut or interfered with in any manner whatsoever.

  1. Any sawmill erected in the reserve must be placed in an open cleared space not closer than 3 chains from any standing trees, and all locomotives, log-haulers, &c., used in connection with milling-operations must at all times be equipped with a spark-arrester of a type approved by the undersigned.

  2. No tree-cones are included in this sale.

  3. All firewood must be cut into lengths of two or four feet, and stacked in cords upon the ground; no cords shall be removed until inspected and passed by a Forest Officer. Firewood shall not be cut from timber appraised for milling nor from the belt of trees referred to in clause 8 hereof.

  4. The successful tenderer must maintain the fences round the sawmill area in good repair, and must prevent the trespass of any stock on that part of the area on which the trees are growing.

  5. Tenders should be on the special form obtainable from any office of the State Forest Service, and should be enclosed in envelopes addressed “Conservator of Forests, Palmerston North,” and endorsed “Tender for Timber.”

The conditions which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser and further particulars may be obtained on application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry, Wellington.
