Land in Marlborough Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the under-mentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Marlborough Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.

Milling-timber for Sale by Tender.

State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 10th April, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 14th May, 1926.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing 392 acres, situated in Block X, Hohonu Survey District, portion of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1704, situated about twelve miles from Kumara Junction Railway-station on the Kumara—Lake Brunner Road.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 863,800, or in board feet 5,564,000, made up as follows:—

Further blocks of residual tributary timber in the Provisional State forest mentioned will be selected at appropriate times and offered for sale by public tender as occasion warrants.

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-tenth of the purchase-money, together with half-year’s ground rent and £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by sixteen equal quarterly payments, the first of which shall be paid on the 1st day of November, 1926.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

  3. The attention of all tenderers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful tenderer to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported; and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

  4. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

  5. Each tenderer must state the total price that he is prepared to pay for each species. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted, and the timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the tender by the Commissioner of State Forests.

  6. The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber either before or after the closing date for receipt of tenders.

  7. If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application at the upset price until further notice.

  8. The licensee shall remove any tree-tops or other obstructions from the water-race caused by his logging operations, and shall repair any damage to the race from the same cause, at his own expense.

  9. Tenders should be on the special form obtainable from any office of the State Forest Service, and should be enclosed in envelopes addressed “Conservator of Forests, Hokitika,” and endorsed “Tender for Timber.”

The conditions which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and further particulars, may be obtained on application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry, Wellington.

Pinus insignis Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

Palmerston North, 8th April, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston North (acting for and on behalf of the Railway Department), at 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 14th May, 1926.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the pinus insignis milling-timber on that parcel of land containing approximately 194 acres, being railway reserve situated in Blocks XIII and XIV, Te Kawa Survey District, and Blocks I and II, Mount Robinson Survey District, about one mile from Himitangi Railway-station.

The estimated quantity of timber in feet, board measure, is 978,076; or in cubic feet, 163,012.

In addition the plantation is estimated to yield 2,000 cords of firewood.

Upset price—

Ground rent, £4 17s. per annum.
Term of license, two and a half years.

Terms of Payment.

Sawn timber: A marked cheque for one-quarter of the tendered price, together with half year’s ground rent, and £1 1s. license fee, plus exchange, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by six equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid six months after the date of sale.

Cord wood: This must be paid for at the end of each calendar month and no such wood shall be removed until passed by a Forest Officer.

Terms and Conditions.

  6. The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber either before or after the closing-date for receipt of tenders.

  7. If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentioned, it will remain open for application at the upset price until further notice.

  8. The successful tenderer shall be required to leave a belt of trees not less than three rows wide on the western side of
