Prescribing the Rate of Interest that may be paid by the Horahia Drainage Board in respect of a Loan of £15/500, authorized to be raised for the Purpose of providing Improved Drainage.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day of March, 1926.

WHEREAS by section eleven of the Finance Act, 1921, and its amendments, it is provided that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act or in any rule of law, where a local authority or public body has been authorized before the passing of the said Act, or is thereafter authorized, to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of ratepayers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or determined, and such money or any part thereof has not been borrowed, the local authority may, with the precedent consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such money, or such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at such rate of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed by the Governor-General by Order in Council:

And whereas the Horahia Drainage Board has been authorized to borrow the sum of fifteen thousand five hundred pounds for the purpose of providing improved drainage:

And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent consent as required by the above-recited section eleven, and it is desired that the rate of interest at which the money may be borrowed be not exceeding six per centum per annum:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the rate of interest that may be paid by the Horahia Drainage Board in respect of the said loan of fifteen thousand five hundred pounds shall be a rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said Horahia Drainage Board is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of fifteen thousand five hundred pounds accordingly.

Consenting to the Raising of Loans by certain Local Authorities.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day of March, 1926.

Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made under section twenty, subsection one, of the Finance Act, 1919, for the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the sums set out therein, and it is expedient that such consent should issue:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the raising of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto, and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Finance Act, 1919, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loans.

Regulations under the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, with respect to Motor-vehicles held by the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children (Incorporated), including its Branches, and St. John Ambulance Association.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day of March, 1926.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare any motor-vehicle held by the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children (Incorporated), including its branches, and St. John Ambulance Association, including its centres, and used exclusively for purposes of a public nature, to be exempt from the payment of the annual license fees prescribed by the said Act; and doth hereby declare that this regulation shall come into force on the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six.

Declaring a Portion of a Public Highway in No. 9 Highway District to be a Main Highway.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day of March, 1926.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that on and after the date of gazetting of this Order in Council the public highway mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be a main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.


SCHEDULE.

WOODVILLE–PALMERSTON NORTH: All that portion of road known as the Woodville–Palmerston North Road, commencing at the western boundary of the County of Pahiatua, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction alongside the Manawatu River, and terminating at the eastern boundary of the County of Oroua, passing through the County of Kairanga; being a distance of 1 mile 20 chains, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 50, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.
