Opening Land in Nelson Land District for Selection.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say:
The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the thirteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six at the rental specified in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be heavy-bush land.
After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for period of three years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Buller County.—Kongahu Survey District.
(Exempt from Rent for Three Years.)
SECTION 26, Block III : Area, 436 acres ; capital value, £330 ; half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
Weighted with £35, valuation for improvements, consisting of 20 acres felled and grassed and 20 chains of fencing. There is also a slab hut on the property.
Situated on the Karamea-Seddonville Road one mile and a half distant from Te Namu; school is three miles distant and post-office one mile and a half. All hilly country. Twenty acres has been felled and sown, balance bush. Soil fair to poor. Well watered. Altitude, 200 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 10th day of February, 1926.

Opening Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-ninth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Oroua County.—Gorge Survey District.—Marshall Settlement.
SECTION 1s, Block I : Area, 93 acres 3 roods 10 perches. Capital value, £1,750 ; £150.* Half-yearly rent, £43 15s.; £5 17s.t
- Buildings.
† Half-yearly instalment of interest and sinking fund on buildings (comprising four-roomed dwelling, cow-shed, trapshed. &c.), valued at £150, payable in cash or in twenty-one years by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £5 17s. Total half-yearly payments on lease, £49 12s.
Situated five miles from the Ashhurst Dairy Factory, Railway-station, and School. Comprises 20 acres of good pasture remainder poor. Subdivided into sixteen paddocks. Watered by permanent streams. Suitable for dairying.

Situated one mile and three-quarters from Cape Foulwind. Access by 60 chains of metalled dray-road, balance formed but not metalled. About 100 acres flat, balance undulating. Fifty acres was felled and grassed, balance worked-out milling-bush. Soil of poor quality of a pakihi nature. General quality poor. Altitude, 350 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
(Exempt from Rent for Ten Years.)
Crown Land.—Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
SECTION 2, Block VII : Area, 463 acres; capital value, £280; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
Weighted with £100, valuation for improvements, consisting of felling and grassing 120 acres.
Situat ed in Maruia Valley, sixteen miles from Murchison, two miles and a half from a school and telephone-office. Access from Murchison by thirteen miles and a half of good metalled road, balance by formed road unmetalled. About 80 acres of flat terrace land, remainder hillside with fair slopes. With exception of cleared portion, where fern is getting a strong hold, section is all in birch bush. Soil fair to good on flats, resting on standstone formation. Well watered by small stream. Altitude 650 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.
Section 2, Block VIII : Area, 514 acres; capital value, £195; half-yearly rent, £3 18s.
Weighted with £260, valuation for improvements, consisting of 130 acres of bush land felled and grassed, becoming overgrown with fern; 80 chains of fencing, subdividing into four paddocks; one-roomed whare. Payment for these improvements may be either in cash or by deferred payments. If payable on deferred payments, a cash deposit of £50 is required immediately an applicant is declared successful and the balance of £210 to be secured by instalment mortgage extending
