Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 20th November, 1925.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

COMMAND.

Major C. N. Newman, D.S.O., 3rd Battery, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant-Colonel, and is appointed to command the 1st N.Z. Field Artillery Brigade. Dated 22nd October, 1925.

STAFF.

Captain D. H. W. H. Donaldson, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, 5A Wellington, and is appointed Area Officer, 6A Wanganui, and Adjutant 1st Battalion, Wellington West Coast Regiment. Dated 13th August, 1925.

Captain M. A. Stedman, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, 9B Greymouth, and is appointed Command Musketry Instructor, Southern Command. Dated 23rd October, 1925.

Lieutenant A. W. Greville, N.Z. Staff Corps, to be Area Officer, 9C Blenheim. Dated 14th October, 1925.

Lieutenant A. H. L. Sugden, N.Z. Staff Corps, to be attached for duty to R.D. 5, Wellington. Dated 14th October, 1925.

Lieutenant A. J. Moore, N.Z. Staff Corps, to be Area Officer, 9B Greymouth. Dated 14th October, 1925.

1ST N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

Field-Marshal Sir W. R. Birdwood, Bt., G.C.B., G.C.M.G., K.C.S.I., D.S.O., is appointed Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment. Dated 2nd November, 1925.

Major H. C. Hurst, D.S.O., v.d., to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 19th August, 1925.

8TH N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (NELSON).

Albert Lawson Kennington to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 3rd November, 1925.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Major A. H. Carrington, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Major, 16th Pack Battery. Dated 2nd November, 1925.

Lieutenant W. A. Gow to be Captain, 11th Field Battery. Dated 2nd November, 1925.

2nd Lieutenant E. F. Kensington to be Lieutenant, 9th Field Battery. Dated 9th November, 1925.

Lieutenant R. R. Binney, 11th Field Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b) R.D. 12. Dated 9th November, 1925.

2nd Lieutenant A. S. Hamilton, 11th Field Battery, resigns his commission. Dated 5th November, 1925.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants, 7th Field Battery. Dated 29th October, 1925.

Cecil Alfred Masters to be 2nd Lieutenant, 11th Field Battery. Dated 2nd November, 1925.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Central Depot.

Captain H. J. Hobbs to be Major. Dated 6th November, 1925.

Southern Depot.

2nd Lieutenant E. C. Gough is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b) R.D. 10. Dated 3rd November, 1925.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own).

Lieutenant A. E. Dews (3rd C. Battalion) is transferred to the 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 23rd March, 1925.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) E. D. Pritchard (3rd C. Battalion) is transferred to the 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 15th May, 1923.

The Waikato Regiment.

Captain F. Stewart, M.C. (1st C. Battalion) is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 6th November, 1925.

The Wellington Regiment.

Captain F. Stewart, M.C., from the Waikato Regiment, to be Captain, 2nd C. Battalion, with seniority as from the 13th June, 1925.

The Canterbury Regiment.

Major A. H. Carrington (4th C. Battalion) is transferred to the 16th Pack Battery, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery. Dated 2nd November, 1925.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain A. Robertson, M.D., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, and is attached for duty to the Central Depot, N.Z. Army Service Corps. Dated 9th November, 1925.

Captain S. L. Ludbrook, M.B., is attached for duty to the 1st Battalion, Auckland Regiment. Dated 31st October, 1925.

Major C. H. Gordon, M.B., ceases to be attached to the 1st Battalion, Southland Regiment, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 9th October, 1925.

Allan Augustus Macdonald, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Northern Depot, N.Z. Army Service Corps. Dated 3rd November, 1925.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend G. H. Gavin, Chaplain 4th Class, to be Chaplain 3rd Class. Dated 1st December, 1924.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 77, of 20th November, 1924, relating to the promotion of the Reverend J. Laird to Chaplain 3rd Class, for “27th October, 1923” read “7th October, 1923.”

The Reverend R. de Lambert, Chaplain 4th Class, is transferred from the Reserve List, Class I, to the Reserve List, Class II (R.D. 10). Dated 11th November, 1925.

THE RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Central Command.

The undermentioned are posted to the Retired List under the provisions of para. 126, G.R., 1913, with permission to retain their rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 9th November, 1925.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following amendment to the Schedule of appointments at General Headquarters and at Command Headquarters, as published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 20th December, 1923:—

Under “Air Services” delete “Staff Officer, Air Services” and “S.O. Air,” and substitute “Director of Air Services” and “D. of A.S.,” respectively.
