"(xi.) For examination of recruits for the Territorial Force: 2s. 6d. per head. This fee is payable on the certificate of the Staff Officer in charge of the Regimental District concerned, endorsed by the O.C. Command, who will ensure, as far as possible, that such recruits are collected in suitable centres for the purpose of the examination, in order to avoid unnecessary travelling on the part of the Medical Officer or the practitioner.

"(xii.) For examination and certificate in cases other than those mentioned in the preceding subparagraphs: 12s. 6d. per case.

"125. In order to avoid any inconvenience in the settlement of claims, the A.D.M.S. will arrange that whenever the services of a Medical Officer, who is not at the time in camp with troops, or a civil medical practitioner are required, such Medical Officer or practitioner is informed that should any dispute arise as to the charges made by him for professional attendance, the decision of General Headquarters must be accepted as final. Civil practitioners will not be employed unless they sign an agreement to this effect, and the A.D.M.S. will be held responsible that such agreements are duly made.

"126. Where exceptional circumstances have necessitated the employment of a civil medical practitioner at other than the rates specified in paragraph 124, a full explanation of the circumstances will be rendered with the claim, and the charges must be certified to by the D.M.S. as fair and reasonable before being passed for payment.

"Medical Officers and Veterinary Officers.

"127. While undergoing their obligatory annual training in camp, or at a continuous course of instruction, Medical Officers and Veterinary Officers will receive as remuneration the pay and allowances appropriate to their rank in the Territorial Force, as laid down in para. 118. In addition to pay of rank, medical officers will receive a professional allowance of £1 1s. per diem.

"Applications for Exemption from Training on Grounds of Medical Unfitness.

"128. Any person liable for training who claims exemption from training on the grounds of medical unfitness will require to produce at his own expense a certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner (to be a member of the N.Z.M.C. where possible). Such claimant shall be entitled to a refund of the cost of the certificate up to a maximum of 10s. 6d., providing it states that the claimant is medically unfit and specifies the nature and probable duration of the disability causing such unfitness, and providing further that total or partial exemption is granted as a result of such application."

Notifying Land in Nelson Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the sixteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, as the time at which the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 12, Block XIV, Pakawau Survey District: Area, 4 acres 3 roods 7 perches; upset price, £48.

Situated close to the Township of Collingwood, on the banks of the Aorere River. All flat land of good quality, subject to flood.
