Improvements include about six miles of three- to seven-wire fencing in need of attention. Sections partly boundary-fenced and subdivided into nine paddocks. Three-roomed house, all iron, lined, ceiled, and papered. Four-bail paling cow-shed and separator-room, iron roof; yard of manuka rails.
Capable of being made into very useful farm. Four-fifths ploughable. Handy to freezing-works. Suitable for sheep.
Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Survey District.
Section 8, Block VIII: Area, 312 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £275. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 10s.
Section is situated between Opua-Waimate Road and Whangape tidal creek. Access is from Opua Railway-station and wharf two miles distant either by formed road or by water. Soil is clay on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Country steep and broken, with fern, manuka, and hakea on ridges and a little bush in gullies. Altitude, 20 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
Bay of Islands County.—Motatau Survey District.
Section 32, Block VIII: Area, 390 acres. Capital value, £490. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £12 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £9 16s.
Weighted with £85 valuation for improvements, consisting of 78 chains of fencing, valued at £65, and two-roomed paling shanty, iron roof and earth floor, valued at £20.
Section 6, Block XII: Area, 493 acres. Capital value, £515. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £12 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £10 6s.
Sections are situated about three miles from Maromaku Railway-station, access road being formed but not metalled. Fairly well watered by several good springs and swamp. Altitude ranges from 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
Section 32, Block VIII: About one-third of section is swamp land, balance flat and undulating to hilly. Soil fair quality in swamp portion, poor on hills.
Section 6, Block XII: About 50 acres swamp land, balance undulating and broken, country covered with fern, manuka, and hakea. Soil is clay of poorish quality with gum in places.
Otamatea County.—Mangawai Parish.
Sections 117, 118, and 242: Area, 308 acres 3 roods 2 perches. Capital value, £430. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £10 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 12s.
Situated about one mile and a half from Village of Hakaru and about two miles from Mangawai by formed road, Undulating land covered with fern, scrub, and rushes with occasional patches of gorse; practically all ploughable. Soil is of clay formation. Poorly watered by swamp. Altitude, 150 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
Rodney County.—Arai Parish.
Sections 1 and 2: Area, 93 acres. Capital value, £70. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 15s Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 8s.
Weighted with £12 valuation for improvements, consisting of one-roomed house, iron roof, poor condition.
Situated about two miles from Tomarata Post-office and eight miles and a half from Mangawai from which access is by metalled road two miles, formed clay road six miles, bridle-track half a mile. Cream is carted to Wellsford Railway-station, ten miles distant, and railed to Helensville Dairy Factory. Country is undulating. Soil is clay on sandstone formation. Section 1 is poor gum-land covered with short gorse and poorly watered. Section 2 is better-class puriri land, well watered by stream. About 12 acres puriri, balance tea-tree, rough grass, and gorse. Elevation 10 ft. to 70 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Settlement Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Waitemata County.—Waari Hamlet Settlement.
SECTION 82: Area, 4 acres 3 roods 32·56 perches; capital value, £200; half-yearly rent, £4 10s.
Adjoining the Waikumete Cemetery Extension Reserve, about three-quarters of a mile from Oratia Railway-station, to which there is access by a formed clay road. Soil is of clay, medium quality. All more or less ploughable, though rather steep in places. Suitable for fruit-growing and poultry or bee farming or for workers’ homes, as Oratia is about three-quarters of an hour’s journey by train from Auckland City, or half hour’s journey to Mount Eden Railway-station.

SECTION 6, Block III: Area, 288 acres 2 roods; capital value, £650; half-yearly rent, £13.
Weighted with £511, valuation for improvements, consisting of fencing, bush-felling, and grassing, and iron shanty with paling lean-to.
Situated about eleven miles from Mangonui by formed and partly metalled road. Open and undulating country with one or two small flats, ploughable in parts. Section well watered by good stony-bottom creek. Approximately 180 acres of rough feed, the balance in fern and bush. Property almost ring-fenced and is divided into three paddocks. There is ample timber on the property for the erection of fences, yards, and buildings.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section three of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power enabling me in that behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Warrant dated the fifteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and published in Gazette No. 65, of the twenty-fourth day of that month, page 2660, notifying sections in St. Arnaud Township, Nelson Land District, for sale by public auction for cash or on deferred payments under the Land Act, 1924.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 12th day of October, 1925.
