WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL.

Results of Polls.

I HEREBY publicly notify that the poll was taken on the 12th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Wanganui City Council to borrow the sum of £17,000 for the following purposes, namely:—

  1. The purchase of the following lands situate either within or without the boundaries of the City of Wanganui in manner as provided by section 302 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, for pleasure-grounds, gardens, zoological gardens, or for any other purpose of enjoyment or recreation, that is to say,—

(a.) Part Block No. 24 on the plan of the Right Bank of the Wanganui River, containing approximately 56 acres (part Hylton Estate).

(b.) Sections 474 and 475 on the plan of the Town of Wanganui, containing approximately 2 roods.

(c.) Part Suburban Section 17, Town of Wanganui, containing approximately 1 rood 20·4 perches.

(d.) Part of Blocks 90 and 91, Left Bank Wanganui River, containing approximately 30 acres, more or less (Wanganui East).

(e.) Part Section 227, Block 4, Westmere Survey District, containing approximately 40 acres (Castlecliff).

(f.) Part Lot I, part Sections 82 and 83, Left Bank Wanganui River, containing approximately 46½ acres.

(g.) Lot 21 (deposited plan No. 1954), part Sections 43 and 44, Left Bank Wanganui River, containing approximately 2 acres 0 roods 6·3 perches.

  1. The purchase of certain lands situate in that portion of the City of Wanganui known as Durie Hill for the purposes of a public hall or any other purpose of enjoyment or recreation and the making, forming, and providing of streets or approaches to the said lands—that is to say, Section 13 and part Section 14, Block I, Township of Durietown, containing approximately 24 perches, and Section 46, on deposited plan No. 41, Township of Durietown, containing approximately 1 rood.

  2. The providing, erecting, or supplying of a building or buildings with the necessary furnishings, sanitary conveniences, and drainage, to be erected on portion of Cook’s Gardens Reserve, St. Hill Street, Wanganui, for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the public.

The following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 832; against the proposal, 1,946; informal, 66.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 12th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Wanganui City Council to borrow the sum of £4,000 for the following purposes, namely: The making, constructing, and finishing of a street or the deviating or altering of the existing street in the city at the intersection of the Great North Road and the New Zealand Government Line of Railway at the junction of the Great North Road and Victoria Avenue, and the making, construction, erection, and completion of an overhead traffic-bridge on the Great North Road rendered necessary by the deviation of the said railway-line by the New Zealand Government at the intersection aforesaid, and the supply or providing of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto, such loan being in addition to a loan of £3,600 authorized by the ratepayers on the 13th day of April, 1919, and unexpended, the moneys previously authorized being insufficient for the carrying-out of the said purposes, the following votes were recorded:

For the proposal, 1,003; against the proposal, 1,783; informal, 58.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 12th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Wanganui City Council to borrow the sum of £6,600 for the following purposes, namely: The making, effecting, and completing of improvements, erection of conveniences, levelling, the building or erection of dressing-sheds and sanitary conveniences, the supplying of drainage and all machinery, sewer-pipes, drains, appliances, matters, and things incidental or relating thereto, and the supplying, providing, or furnishing of apparatus, appliances, matters, or things, for the amusement, instruction, or recreation of the public at, in, or upon the public parks or places of recreation in the City of Wanganui known as Williams’ Domain, Aramoho Park, Laid Park, Victoria Park, Virginia Lake Park, and Moutoa Gardens, and the public parks or places of recreation situate or being at Aramoho (Hylton Estate), Carlton Avenue, Castlecliff, Queen’s Park, St. John’s Hill, Harrison Street, Cook’s Gardens, Wanganui East, Bell Street, Durie Hill, and Gonville, and all things incidental or relating to such purposes of any of them, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 990; against the proposal, 1,787; informal, 65.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 12th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Wanganui City Council to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the following purposes, namely: The making of advances pursuant to the provisions of section 228 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and upon the terms thereof to the owner or owners of premises situate in the City of Wanganui for the efficient drainage of such premises in manner required by Part XXII of the said Act, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 1,063; against the proposal, 1,716; informal, 65.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Hokianga, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HOKIANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Kohukohu Riding (town area and outlying area) in the County of Hokianga was taken on the 10th day of January, 1925, on the proposal of the Hokianga County Council to borrow the sum of £7,500 for the purpose of road-construction, metalling, and culverting in the said Kohukohu Riding (town area and outlying area).

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 41; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 18.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Punakaiki Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block I, Punakaiki Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Tiromoana, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.
