Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road in the Town of Mount
Pleasant Extension No. 14 of a Less Width than 66 ft.
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is
inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown
upon the plan of Town of Mount Pleasant Extension No. 14
affecting parts of Rural Sections 866, 24077, and 24813, Can-
terbury Land District, and prepared by Messrs. Hanmer and
Barker, licensed surveyors, is intended to be used wholly for
residential purposes, that the road shown therein should be
of the width of 66 ft.
Now, therefore, I, Alexander Donald McLeod, Minister of
Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon
me by section 17 of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other
power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of such
road of a width of 40 ft. : Provided always that it shall not
be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any
building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such
road.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, prohibiting
the Sale within the Borough of Wairoa of certain Goods
comprised in the Trade of a Grocer.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the
Borough of Wairoa, has been forwarded to me, desiring that
the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer—
namely, tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar, flour, spices, condiments,
candles, cornflour, oatmeal, Oatina, Creamoata, sardines,
and other tinned fish, soda, washing-soap, starch, blue—be
prohibited during such time as the said shops are required
to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22,
or of any award :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in
the trade of a grocer within the said borough, and that the
signatures to such petition represent a majority of the
occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act,
I do hereby direct that on and after the 19th day of October,
1925, the sale of the said goods within the Borough of Wairoa
shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows—on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of
5.30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of
9 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the
Closing-hours of Butchers' Shops within the Borough of New
Plymouth.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers' shops within
the Borough of New Plymouth, has been forwarded to me,
desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed
in the evening of working-days as follows—Subject to closing
at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory
closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays,
and Saturdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 8 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the
said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the
19th day of October, 1925, all the butchers' shops within the
Borough of New Plymouth shall be closed accordingly.
The notice dated the 26th June, 1918, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the 27th June, 1918, fixing the closing-
hours of butchers' shops within the Borough of New Ply-
mouth, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming
into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the
Closing-hours of Drapers' Shops within the Borough of
Featherston.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the drapers' shops within the
Borough of Featherston, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows—On Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at
8.30 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the
said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after
the 19th day of October, 1925, all the drapers' shops within
the Borough of Featherston shall be closed accordingly.
The notice dated the 31st August, 1921, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the 8th September, 1921, fixing
the closing-hours of drapers' shops within the Borough of
Featherston, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the
coming into operation of this notice.
Dated at Wellington this 7th day of October, 1925.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the
Closing-hours of Grocers' Shops within the Borough of
Wairoa.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the
Borough of Wairoa, has been forwarded to me, desiring that
all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening
of working-days as follows—On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednes-
days, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m. :
Provided that should the occupier of any such shop observe
Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case
the hour of closing on Thursday shall be 5.30 p.m., and on
Friday 9 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the
said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after
the 19th day of October, 1925, all the grocers' shops within
the Borough of Wairoa shall be closed accordingly.
The notice dated the 16th March, 1910, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the 18th March, 1910, fixing the
closing-hours of all shops within the Borough of Wairoa,
and the varied notice dated the 4th July, 1914, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th July, 1914, fixing the
closing-hours of all shops (except tobacconists', hairdressers',
confectioners', and chemists' shops) within the said borough,
are hereby cancelled in so far as they relate to the shops
affected by this notice, as from the date of the coming into
operation of this notice.

Beacons and Buoys.
ADVERTING to Notice to Mariners No. 47 of 1925,
published in New Zealand Gazette No. 46, of 11th June,
1925, concerning the paragraph in that notice relating to Dog
Point Channel,—
Information is hereby given that the large red and the large
black buoys marking the western end of Dog Point Channel,
also, all the small cask buoys (with the exception of the
black buoy marking the turning corner at the eastern end
and the red buoy marking the turning corner at the western
end of that Channel) have been removed.
Dog Point Channel is marked by two white-painted beacons,
400 yards apart, each 15 ft. in height, in transit 278°; the
front beacon being situated at the southern extreme of Dog
Point.
The least water found in this channel with the beacons in
transit is 17 ft. at M.L.W.S.
This notice cancels the information contained in the para-
graph "Dog Point Channel" contained in Notice to Mariners
No. 47 of 1925.
