Declaring Portions of Main Highways in the Highway Districts
hereunder enumerated to be Government Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of
September, 1925.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that
the portions of the main highways described in the Schedule
hereto shall, on and after the date of the gazetting of this
Order in Council, become Government roads.
SCHEDULE.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 1.
WARKWORTH–KAIPARA FLATS RAILWAY-STATION : All that main
highway known as the Warkworth–Kaipara Flats Railway-
station Main Highway, commencing at its junction with the
Waiwera–Mangawai Main Highway, and proceeding thence
generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at
the Kaipara Flats Railway-station, passing through the
County of Rodney; being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains,
more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on
the plan marked M.H. 45, deposited in the office of the Minister
of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District, and thereon coloured blue and marked N–O on plan.
WAIMAMAKU–OHAEGAWAI : All that portion of the main high-
way known as the Waimamaku–Ohaeawai Main Highway,
commencing at its junction with the Kaikohe–Huehue Road,
and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction
through Blocks III and II, Punakitere Survey District, and
terminating at the western boundary of the Bay of Islands
County, passing through the County of Bay of Islands, being
a distance of 5 miles 60 chains, more or less. As the same is
more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 45,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured blue and marked P–Q on plan.
MAUNGATAPERE–KAIKOHE : All that portion of the main high-
way known as the Maungatapere–Kaikohe Main Highway,
commencing at the Opouteke River Bridge in Block V, Manga-
kahia Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a
north-westerly direction via the Mangakahia and Awaroa
river bridges, and terminating at the northern boundary of
the County of Whangarei, passing through the County of
Whangarei; being a distance of seven miles, more or less.
As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked M.H. 45, deposited in the office of the Minister of
Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District,
and thereon coloured blue and marked R–S on plan.
WAYBY–MAUNGATURORO : All that portion of the main
highway known as the Wayby–Maungaturoro Main Highway,
commencing at its junction with the Port Albert – Wellsford
Main Highway at Wellsford and proceeding thence generally
in a north-westerly direction via Te Hana and Topuni, and
terminating at its junction with the Kaiwaka–Mangawai Main
Highway at Kaiwaka, passing through the Counties of Rodney
and Otamatea; being a distance of 13 miles 20 chains, more
or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the
plan marked M.H. 45, deposited in the office of the Minister
of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District, and thereon coloured blue and marked T–U on plan.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 2.
POKENO–WAIHI : All that portion of the Pokeno–Waihi
Main Highway, commencing at the western boundary of the
Hauraki Plains County, and proceeding thence generally in
a north-easterly direction, and terminating at junction of
road at the north-western corner of 1c of Section 3A of Sec-
tion 4b, Waitakaruru Settlement, otherwise known as Haley’s
Corner, Blocks II and III, Piako Survey District, and passing
through the County of Hauraki Plains; being a distance of
2 miles 76 chains, more or less. As the same is more particu-
larly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 49, deposited in the
office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the
Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and
marked E–F on plan.
Also, all that portion of the said main highway commencing
at the junction of roads near the southernmost corner of
Allotment 25, Maramarua Parish, and proceeding thence
generally in a south-easterly direction through the said Allot-
ment 25, adjacent to Allotment 68, part 68 and 69A, and Wai-
takaruru Block, and terminating at the eastern boundary of the
Waikato County, passing through the Waikato County; being
a distance of 1 mile 42 chains, more or less. As the same is
more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 49,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured blue and marked G–H on plan.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 3.
TE NGAE–PAENGAROA : All that portion of the Main Highway
known as the Te Ngae–Paengaroa Main Highway, commencing
at the southern boundary of the County of Tauranga, and
proceeding thence generally in a northerly and north-easterly
direction via Paengaroa, and terminating at its junction with
the Whakatane–Tauranga Main Highway, passing through the
County of Tauranga; being a distance of eight miles, more or
less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked M.H. 30, deposited in the office of the Minister of
Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District,
and thereon coloured blue and marked O–P on plan.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 4.
GISBORNE–WAIROA VIA HANGAROA : All that portion of the
main highway known as the Gisborne–Wairoa (via Hangaroa)
Main Highway, commencing at its junction with the Hangaroa
Township Road, Section 10, Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey
District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly
direction, and terminating at the southern boundary of the
Cook County, passing through the Cook County; being a
distance of 14 miles 20 chains, more or less. As the same is
more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 22,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wel-
ington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured
blue and marked N–O on plan.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 18.
GORE – TE ANAU : All that portion of the main highway
known as the Gore – Te Anau Main Highway, commencing at
Mosshburn and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly
direction, and terminating at The Key Junction, passing
through the County of Wallace; being a distance of twenty-one
miles, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated
on the plan marked M.H. 41, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington
Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked A–B
on plan.
KENNINGTON–WAIKAWA : All that portion of the main
highway known as the Kennington–Waikawa Main Highway,
commencing at its junction with MacManus Road, and pro-
ceeding thence generally in an easterly direction, and termin-
ating at its junction with Shoot Road, Section 21, Block IV,
Waikawa Survey District, passing through the County of
Southland; being a distance of five miles, more or less. As
the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
M.H. 41, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public
Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and
thereon coloured blue and marked C–D on plan.
