THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Manawatu, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the County of Manawatu taken on the 26th day of May, 1925, on the proposal of the Manawatu County Council to borrow the sum of £60,000 for—

(a.) To provide the Council’s contribution under the Main Highways Act, 1922, and amendments thereto, towards the construction or reconstruction of the main highways throughout the County of Manawatu and within No. 9 Highways District, as mentioned in the New Zealand Gazette dated 12th June, 1924:

(b.) To provide the necessary plant and machinery for carrying out the said work of construction or reconstruction of such main highways aforesaid,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 401; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 87; the number of informal votes was 3.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Featherston.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Borough of Featherston and included in the County of Featherston. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF FEATHERSTON.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the eastern side of the Wellington–Masterton Railway in line with the north-eastern boundary of part Section 85, Featherston Suburbs; thence south-easterly along that boundary across Hickson Street and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 86 to Brown Street, across Brown Street, and north-easterly along the eastern side of Brown Street to its junction with Murphy’s Line; thence south-westerly along the western side of Murphy’s Line to a point distant 408·9 links from the north-eastern corner of Section 126, Suburbs of Featherston aforesaid; thence north-westerly along a line parallel to the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 126, for a distance of 567 links; thence by a right line parallel to Murphy’s Line to the northern side of Fitzherbert Street; thence westerly along the northern side of Fitzherbert Street to a point 225 links distant from the westernmost corner of Section 127, Featherston Suburbs; thence north-easterly along a line parallel to the eastern side of Brown Street, for a distance of 320 links; thence by a right line to the eastern side of Brown Street to a point distant 400 links from the westernmost corner of Section 127 aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the said eastern side of Brown Street to a point in line with the northern side of Harrison Street; thence across Brown Street and westerly along the northern side of Harrison Street to the eastern side of Hickson Street; thence north-easterly along the eastern side of Hickson Street aforesaid to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 110, Featherston Suburbs; thence to and along the said south-western boundary of Section 110 aforesaid to Birdwood Street; thence north-easterly along the eastern side of Birdwood Street to the crossing of the railway; and thence north-easterly along the eastern side of the said railway to the north-eastern boundary of part Section 85, the point of commencement.
