NOTICE is hereby given that the Register of New Zealand 5½-per-cent. Inscribed Stock, maturing 15th January, 1933, will be closed from the 1st to the 15th July, 1925, inclusive, for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

Result of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Takapuna, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF TAKAPUNA.

Result of Polls.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and its amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Takapuna taken on the 29th day of April, 1925, on the proposals of the Takapuna Borough Council to borrow the sums set out against the several works as stated hereunder, the number of votes recorded in respect of each proposal was as follows :—

Proposal No. 1 : Sewage.—Provision, construction, and laying of sewers, storage culverts, outfalls, and drainage works, constituting sewage systems within the Borough of Takapuna, including the acquisition of land necessary for the purposes of the said works, the payment of compensation for land purchased or taken and for land injuriously affected, and the purchase of plant, £113,000; and provision of funds for advances to ratepayers for connections to the said system under section 228 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, £6,000—the sum of £119,000.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,212; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 226; informal, 171.

Proposal No. 2 : Street-works.—Provision of an additional sum required to lay down and complete Lake Road in concrete over and above the amount estimated by the Council in the previous loan for laying down and completing the said street in bitumen. Provision of an additional sum required to lay down and complete that portion of Victoria Road between end of concrete work near King Edward Avenue and the borough boundary in bitumen over and above the amount estimated by the Council in the previous loan; construction of approaches to bridge over Wairau Stream, East Coast Road, construction of footpath from Beach Road to Northboro Road, and kerbing, channelling, forming footpaths and provision of stormwater drainage, £17,300; construction of a bridge over Wairau Stream, East Coast Road, £4,000—the sum of £21,300.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,050; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 349; informal, 211.

Proposal No. 3 : Marine Terrace.—Provision of an additional amount required over and above the amount estimated by the Council in the previous loan for widening and supporting Marine Terrace and the construction of Marine Terrace—the sum of £13,400.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 886; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 510; informal, 213.

I therefore declare that all the above proposals were carried.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Hokitika, the County of Westland, and of the Central Riding of the County of Westland.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920 (hereinafter referred to as “the said section”), the boundaries of the Borough of Hokitika are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by an Order in Council dated the 8th day of June, 1925, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and published in Gazette No. 46, of the 11th day of June, 1925.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section, the boundaries of the County of Westland and of the Central Riding of that county, affected by the said Order in Council, are hereby defined as set out in the Second and Third Schedules hereto respectively.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Hokitika River at its mouth, and proceeding thence northerly along the coast to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 822, Block 1, Kanieri Survey District; thence to and along that boundary and the southern boundaries of Reserve 454 and Reserve 65 to the eastern side of the road forming the western boundary of Reserve 452; thence south-westerly along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Hokitika River; thence down the middle of the Hokitika River to its mouth, the place of commencement.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

COUNTY OF WESTLAND.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Taramakau River at its mouth, and proceeding thence up the middle of that river to its source in the Southern Alps; thence by a right line to the summit of the said Southern Alps; thence generally southerly along the summit of the Southern Alps to the summit of Mount Aspiring; thence by a right line to the mouth of the Awarua River in Big Bay; then generally north-easterly along the coast to the mouth of the Taramakau River, the place of commencement; excluding therefrom the Boroughs of Kumara, Hokitika, and Ross.


THIRD SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE CENTRAL RIDING, COUNTY OF WESTLAND.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the south-west corner of Endowment Reserve No. 271; thence along and bounded by the southern part of the said Reserve 271; and thence south-east along the northern shores of Lake Mahinapua; and thence south-east along the H.O. line to the Hokitika River; thence along the middle of the said Hokitika River to the junction of the Hokitika and Whitcombe Rivers; thence along the middle of the Whitcombe River to the summit of the dividing-range of Canterbury and Westland; thence north-easterly along the dividing-range to the source of the Arahura River; thence down the middle of the said Arahura River to Caledonian Creek; thence up the middle of that creek to Doughtown; thence along part of the south-western boundary of Reserve 145 to the south-western corner of the said reserve; thence by a right line passing Mount McKay to McKean’s water-race; thence north-westerly along the said water-race to the junction of the Hauhau and Brennan’s Creek at Cement Lead Track; thence southerly along the said Cement Lead Track to the Hauhau Road; thence westerly along the said Hauhau Road to the eastern boundary of the Hokitika Borough; thence by that boundary to the middle of the Hokitika River; thence by the middle of that river to the sea-coast; thence south-westerly along the sea-coast to the place of commencement.
