commendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. M. Johnson, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. M. Johnson, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. T. Cunningham seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

HAWKE’S BAY TROTTING CLUB (INCORPORATED).

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Hawke’s Bay Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”) doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the district of Hastings, and known as the Hastings Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings:—

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “trotting club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Hawke’s Bay Trotting Club (Incorporated) were made and passed by such club on the 2nd day of May, 1925, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

THE KURANUI GOLD-MINING COMPANY (NO LIABILITY).

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above company held on the 21st day of April, 1925, the subjoined resolution was passed, and the same was confirmed as a special resolution at a subsequent extraordinary general meeting thereof held on the 12th day of May, 1925.

That it is desirable to reconstruct the company, and that the company be wound up voluntarily under the provisions of the Companies Act, 1908, and that JOHN WILLIAM NICHOL, of Auckland, Company Secretary, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

I, CYRIL LEONARD HUME, heretofore called and known by the name of “Cyril Leonard Humm,” of Kaikohe, in the Provincial District of Auckland, Farmer, hereby give public notice that on the 3rd day of April, 1925, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of “Humm,” and then assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Hume” instead of the said surname of “Humm”; and I give further notice by a deed-poll dated the 3rd day of April, 1925, duly executed and attested and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand (Northern District), at Auckland, on the 5th day of May, 1925, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said surname of “Humm,” and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Cyril Leonard Hume” instead of “Cyril Leonard Humm,” and so as to be at all times hereafter called, known, and described by the name of “Cyril Leonard Hume” exclusively.
