ELECTION OF A MEMBER OF THE WELLINGTON CITY AND SUBURBAN HIGHWAYS BOARD OF CONTROL BY PAYERS OF FEES UNDER SECTION 9 OF THE HUTT ROAD AMENDMENT ACT, 1917.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned has been nominated for election as a member of the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Board of Control by payers of fees under section 9 of the Hutt Road Amendment Act, 1917:

NATHAN, SYDNEY GEORGE.

There being only one nomination, I hereby declare SYDNEY GEORGE NATHAN to be duly elected to such office as from the 21st day of January, 1925.

NOTICE is hereby given that THE EDUCATION BOARD OF THE DISTRICT OF WELLINGTON requires to take the land described hereunder:-

Wellington City—6·48 perches, part Section 691, Town of Wellington, Block X, Port Nicholson Survey District, and with a frontage of 100·90 links to Hankey Street.

This area is required for a public work—namely, for the purposes of the Wellington Technical School, a public school within the meaning of the Education Act, 1914.

And notice is hereby given that plans of the said land are open for inspection at the office of the said Board, in Mercer Street, in the City of Wellington.

All persons affected by such taking are hereby required to set forth in writing well-grounded objections to the execution of such work or the taking of such land, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the said Board.

DANNEVIRKE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Dannevirke Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :- That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, and sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £15,000, authorized to be raised by the Dannevirke Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act (by a poll of the ratepayers taken on the 28th November, 1923), for the purpose of enabling the said Council to construct and finish with a bituminous sealing those portions of Stanley Street, High Street, Queen Street, Gordon Street, Allardice Street, Grey Street, Millers Road, and Denmark Street specified in the loan proposal, the said Dannevirke Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-fifths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Dannevirke; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Piako County Council hereby resolves as follows :- That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £1,447 11s. 5d. authorized to be raised by the Piako County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of paying to the Hauraki Plains County Council the sums directed to be paid under an award made upon alteration of boundaries, the said Piako County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-fifth of a penny in the pound on the unimproved rateable value of all rateable property of the Tahuna Riding of the Piako County, comprising the whole of such riding. Bounded

as described in Proclamation appearing in the New Zealand Gazette of 29th March, 1923, at page 826; and that such special rate shall be annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Piako County Council hereby resolves as follows:- That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of the principal, interest, and other charges on a loan of £2,000, authorized to be raised by the Piako County Council under the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of completing the metalling of No. 8 Road from No. 4 Road to No. 9 Road, the said Piako County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one farthing in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable properties in the No. 8 Road North Special-rating Area, comprising Lots 8, 7, and part 6 of 92, Waitoa Estate, containing 222 acres 2 roods 31 perches; part 85/89 containing 468 acres; part Lots 1/3 of 77/8, containing 34 acres 1 rood 8 perches; Lots 3 and 4 of 78/9, containing 172 acres 3 roods 12 perches; part Sections 81, 82, and 83, each containing 100 acres; and part Section 80, containing 132 acres—all Blocks X and XIV, Waitoa S.D.; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

COUNTY OF TARANAKI.

SPECIAL RATE MANGOREI RIDING LOAN, £4,000.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Taranaki County Council hereby resolves as follows :- That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorized to be raised by the Taranaki County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the following purposes:- Lepper-Carrington Bridge, £150; Alfred Road Bridge, £1,390; Kent Road Bridge, £1,190; Korito Road Bridge, £521; metalling Lower Mangorei Road, £280; first year's interest on loan, £224; cost of raising loan, £25; - the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of five-sixteenth pence in the pound over the whole of the rateable property within the Mangorei Riding of the County of Taranaki; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Eketahuna County Council hereby resolves as follows:- That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Eketahuna County Barton's Line Special-rating Area Loan of £750, 1924, authorized to be raised by the Eketahuna County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of metalling Barton's Line, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three sixty-fourths (3/64ths) of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Barton's Line Special-rating Area in the County of Eketahuna, being described as-
