Opening National-endowment Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national-endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.— NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Hokianga County.—Whangape Survey District.

SECTION 17, Block VIII : Area, 266 acres. Capital value, £470. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £9 8s.

Weighted with £175 10s., valuation for improvements.

Section situated about six miles from Herekino, ten miles from Broadwood, and three miles and a half from Runaruna School. Altitude ranges from 150 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Generally undulating land, except ridges, which are rather rough. Chiefly covered with heavy mixed bush, rimu, rata, taraire, &c. Soil of good quality, on sandstone formation; fairly well watered by Humanga Stream and several small streams.

Improvements.—The improvements comprise kahikatea slab whare, 14 ft. by 18 ft., 56 acres felled and grassed ; and 66 chains of fence-line has also been felled and grassed.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five ; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease ; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Rodney County.—Pakiri Survey District.

SECTION 21, Block VIII : Area, 165 acres l rood 25 perches. Capital value, £170. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent, £4 5s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £3 8s.

Section 22, Block VIII : Area, 137 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £140. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent, £3 10s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2 16s.

Section 23, Block VIII : Area, 122 acres 1 rood 35 perches. Capital value, £125. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent, £3 2s. 6d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2 10s.

Section 24, Block VIII : Area, 168 acres 3 roods 14 perches. Capital value, £170. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent, £4 5s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £3 8s.

Sections situated about three to four miles from Wellsford Railway-station by formed road, one mile of which is metalled. Comprises undulating land, fern spurs, and swampy creeks, all the land being more or less ploughable. Section 21 has about 5 acres swamp and Section 22 about 6 acres, easily drainable. The soil is of clay on clay subsoil, and forms part of a well-worked gumfield. The altitude ranges from 200 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level. Watered by swampy streams.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national-endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease, subject to the provisions of section twenty of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Amendment Act, 1923, on Monday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Whangarei County.—Whangarei Survey District.

SECTION 13, Block XI : Area, 854 acres. Capital value, £1,920. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £48.

The elevation ranges from 200 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. There is about 10 acres flat land scattered over the section. Practically all hilly to broken land ; about 100 acres fern and rough feed, 60 acres grass, part overgrown, balance bush and manuka. The soil is of fair clay, resting on blue-rock formation. The bush is fairly heavy, comprising taraire, rata, cedar, a few scattered kauri, and a fair amount of rimu, with a light undergrowth of fern, supplejack, nikau, &c. The section is well watered by several good streams. Situated on Waipareira-Tahere Road. Access is from Parua Bay, which is about six miles distant by cart-road, not metalled.

Notice of taking of Land in the Borough of Napier for the Purposes of a Public Work.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section one hundred and forty-one and one hundred and forty-two of the Harbours Act, 1923, and of all other powers and authorities in anyway enabling me in this behalf, I, Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, on behalf of His Majesty the King, give notice to the Napier Harbour Board that, one month from the date hereof, I shall enter upon and take possession of the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a public work.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected : 2 roods 34·4 perches.

Being Sections 151, 152, 153, and 154, Port Ahuriri Lagoon Reserve.

Situated in the Borough of Napier (Hawke’s Bay R.D.). (S.O. 803 green.)

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 61698, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 15th day of January, 1925.
