Extending Prohibition of Alienation of certain Native Land other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this 19th day of January 1925.
Present:
His Excellency The Governor-General in Council,
O N the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a further period of six months the Order in Council dated the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and gazetted the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, prohibiting all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto, other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

O N the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, and by section one hundred and eleven of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1913 (as amended by section eight of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1916), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a further period of two years the Order in Council dated the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and gazetted the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, prohibiting all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto, other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

Regulations under the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1920, relating to the Destruction of Rabbits in the Manawatu Rabbit District.—Notice No. Ag. 2463.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of January, 1925.

His Excellency The Governor-General in Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1920, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations relating to the destruction of rabbits in the district under the jurisdiction of the Manawatu Rabbit Board, and doth hereby declare that these regulations shall take effect as from the date of gazetting thereof.
REGULATIONS.

  1. Every owner of land on whom a notice to destroy rabbits is served in terms of section 6 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, shall adopt one or more of the following means of destroying rabbits—namely, laying of poison, fumigation of burrows, and filling in of burrows:
    Provided that if an owner is of opinion that none of the means prescribed is the most suitable in his case, the Board may grant to such owner, upon written application being made to it in that behalf and subject to such conditions as it may deem desirable to impose, permission to use other means of rabbit-destruction.
  2. Not later than seven days after the service of such a notice on an owner of land all trapping shall cease, and thereafter for a period of three months from the date of service of the notice, the owner shall not, except with the written permission of the Board and subject to the conditions specified therein, trap rabbits or allow rabbits to be trapped on his land.
  3. Every person committing a breach of these regulations shall be liable to a fine not exceeding ten pounds (£10).
