Portion of the Selwyn Settlement set apart as a Permanent State Forest.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section sixteen of the Finance Act, 1924, and section eighteen of the Forests Act, 1921-22, I, Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby set apart that portion of the Selwyn Settlement described in the Schedule hereto as a permanent State forest.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.--ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

State Forest No. 3: Total Area, 53,196 Acres.

ALL that area, containing 48,967 acres, more or less, situated in Block XII, Tapapa Survey District, Blocks II, III, IV, and V, Tapapa East Survey District, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XI, Patetere North-east Survey District; and bounded generally as follows--

Commencing at the north-eastern corner of the eastern portion of Whaiti-Kuranui No. 5B, thence running in a south-easterly direction along the Tauranga-Matamata County boundary to the north-western corner of Paengaroa No. 1; thence in a south-westerly direction along the western boundary generally of the said Paengaroa No. 1, to the north-eastern corner of Whaiti-Kuranui No. 3B No. 2; thence along the northern, western, and southern boundaries of the said No. 3B No. 2, to the junction of the said southern boundary with the Waiwhakangau Stream; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Paengaroa No. 1 to the junction of the said south-eastern boundary with the north-western boundary of Mangorewa-Kaharoa Block; thence in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundaries of Mangorewa-Kaharoa aforesaid, Provisional State Forest No. 29 (New Zealand Gazette, 1920, page 2120), Section 9A, of Block VI, Rotorua Survey District, and Section 5A, 4, and 3, Block IX, Rotorua Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Whaiti-Kuranui Block, as shown on plan No. 3033, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland;

thence along the north-eastern, north-western, and south-western boundaries of the said Whaiti-Kuranui to the north-western boundary of Section 17 (Provisional State Forest No. 37, New Zealand Gazette 1920, page 2107), Block XIII, Rotorua Survey District; thence along the north-western boundaries of Section 17 aforesaid and Section 3 of the said Block XIII, to the north-eastern corner of Section 3 (scenic reserve), Block VIII, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of the said Section 3, to the junction of the said north-western boundary with a public road: thence along the northern side of the said road to the south-eastern boundary of the northern portion of Whaiti-Kuranui No. 1A, as shown on plan No. 1506, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the said No. 1A to the south-eastern boundary of Section 1 (scenic reserve), Block VIII, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the said Section 1 to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block VI, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the northern boundaries of Section 2 aforesaid and Section 1, Block V, of the said survey district, to the eastern boundary of the northern portion of Whaiti-Kuranui No. 1A; thence along the eastern and northern boundaries of the said No. 1A to the south-eastern corner of Lot 1 of Section 105 (Selwyn Settlement), Block XII, Patetere North Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of the said Lot 1 to the south-eastern corner of Section 3 (Selwyn Settlement), Block VIII, Patetere North Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of the said Section 3 to the southern boundary of part Section 1 (Selwyn Settlement), Block III, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said part Section 1 to the south-eastern corner of Section 77 (scenic reserve), Block III, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Section 77 aforesaid and Section 76 (scenic reserve), Block I, Patetere North-east Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of a piece of Crown land in Block I, Patetere North-east Survey District; thence along the eastern boundaries generally of the said Crown land and Lots 1 and 2 of Section 75 (Selwyn Settlement), Block I, Patetere North-east Survey District, and Block IV, Patetere North Survey District, to the southern boundary of Whaiti-Kuranui 4D No. 2; thence along the southern boundary of 4D No. 2 aforesaid and the eastern boundaries of the said 4D No. 2, Section 73 (Selwyn Settlement-
