Station; thence along the south-western and western boundaries of Mokau-Mohakatino lH Block to the Mokau River; thence down the middle of that river to the sea, the place of commencement; including in the hereinbefore - described area Great Barrier Island and all islands excepting Rangitoto within the Hauraki Gulf.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Bay of Islands Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Bay of Islands Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported game and native game—viz., cock pheasants, Californian quail, Australian quail, grey duck, black teal, and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of May, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following Native game—viz., pukeko; subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and the secretary of the Bay of Islands Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed ten cock pheasants, twenty Californian quail, and Australian quail, and twenty head in all of grey duck, pukeko, black teal, and black swan.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.

  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

  5. Shooting may begin not earlier than half an hour before sunrise and must cease not later than half an hour after sunset.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded on the west by the sea from the south-western corner of Block I, Waipoua Survey District, to the mouth of the Whangape Harbour; on the north by the Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatization District, hereinafter described; and on the east by the sea from the mouth of the Takou River to Helena Bay; thence towards the south-east generally by Sections No. 11, 14, 2, 1, 15, and 16, Block I, Opawahanga Survey District, and Section 1, Block IV, Hukerenui Survey District, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 18, Tarai-o-Rahiri; thence by a right line to Trig. Station Tutamoe, and by the boundary of the Hobson Acclimatization District hereinafter described, to the south-western corner of Block I, Waipoua Survey District, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the open season wherein imported game and native game shall not be taken or killed:

All those areas of land comprising the Kohukohu, Kawakawa, and Kaikohe Town Districts.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Buller Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto (except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3), for the taking or killing of the following imported game and native game—viz., hares and grey duck; and the period from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of March, 1926 (both days inclusive), for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game, including godwits, within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill the following native game only—viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each, and the Chief Postmaster at Westport is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twenty head of hares or grey duck.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game or native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game or native game, including godwits, or the following native game only—viz., godwits—on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

  4. SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Nelson and Westland Land Districts bounded towards the north-west generally by a line starting at a point on the Tasman Sea coast at Kohaihai Bluff in Block XIII, Whakapoa Survey District, and proceeding up a leading spur and along the summit of a range over Mount Domett to Mount Cobb; thence towards the north-east generally by a line along the summit of the western ranges over Mount Snowden and Mount Peel to Mount Arthur; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of a leading range over Mount Luna and along the summit of Lyell Range to Bald Hill; thence by a line down a leading spur on the western side of Eight-mile or Boundary Stream to the mouth of that stream; thence down the left bank of the Buller River and up the right bank of the Inangahua River to a point due north of Mount Haast; thence by a right line to Mount Haast; thence by a right line to the nearest point of the Grey River; thence towards the south-west generally by a line down the middle of the Grey River to its confluence with the Otututu River; thence by a line up the middle of the Otututu River to its source near Mount Faraday; thence by a right line to Mount Faraday; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of the Paparoa Range to a point near the source of the Punakaiki or Deadman’s River; thence towards the south-west generally by a right line to that source and by a line down the middle of that river to the sea; thence towards the north-west by the Tasman Sea to Kohaihai Bluff, the place of commencement.
