Result of Loan Poll.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Christchurch, taken on the 4th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sum of £375,000 for the extension of the electricity supply,
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was, 2,578; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was, 598.
And I declare the proposal to be carried.

SUMNER BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Sumner, taken on the 10th day of December, 1924, on the proposal of the Sumner Borough Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of purchasing land for the extension of St. Leonard’s Square in the Borough of Sumner, and for the improvement thereof as a recreation-ground,
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 146; the number of votes recorded against proposal was 19.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of Palmerston North of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Grocer.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops within the Borough of Palmerston North has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer—namely, arrowroot, allspice, almonds, blue, Bovril, bird-seeds, borax, baking-powders, Creamoata, cocoa, coffees, coffee essences, candles, celery salts, Cremo, custard-powders, coconut (dessicated), curries, capers, cornflours, currants, coffee-beans, cloves, carbonate of soda, carroways, chillies, citron-peel, culinary essences, flour, Granose, ground-spices, Gravis, gelatines, ginger, golden syrup, hops, honey, haricot-beans, jams, jellies, tinned fish, lemon-cheese, Lux, lentils, lemon-peel, macaroni, Milk Oaties, mixed herbs, mustard, marmalades, tinned meats and pastes, Marmite, nutmeg, olives, Oatina, Oto, oatmeal, pepper, pea-meal, patent barley, pickling spices, meat and fish pastes, pilchards in tins, pearl barley, rennet, rice, rolled oats, soda crystals, soaps (except toilet), soups in tins, jars, or bottles, starches, Semolina, seeded and other raisins, seedless raisins, salt, salmon in tins, sardines, sand-soap, sugar, sultanas, sago, split peas, tea, tartaric acid, turmeric, treacle, tapioca, vermicilli, vinegar, washing-powders, washing-soda—be prohibited during such times as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a grocer in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 19th day of January, 1925, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of Palmerston
