SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—FIJI ISLANDS, VUNUA LEVU.
Laukoto Reef—Information re Reef and Beacons.
(1.) Extension of reef:
Position.—Off south-eastern side of reef, at a distance
of 3-50 miles 341° from Sesaleka Peak Δ. Lat.
16° 43’ S., long. 178° 30’ E. (approx.).
Details.—From the above position an extension of
Laukoto Reef is to be drawn on the chart for a
distance of (a) about 2 cables in a 025° direction and
thence (b) in a 310° direction to eastern side of reef.
The 23 fathom (42m0) depth shown on the chart
close northward of (b) above, is to be expunged. A
depth of 21 fathoms (38m4) is to be inserted on
western side of track, at a distance of 3-90 miles 346°
from Sesaleka Peak Δ.
(2.) Beacons to be inserted on chart:
Positions.—(a) Lat. 16° 43’ 15” S., long. 178° 30’
12” E., on chart No. 379. (b) Lat. 16° 44’ 00” S.,
long. 178° 29’ 48” E., on chart No. 379.
Details.—The symbol for a beacon, together with the
notation “Bn.,” is to be inserted on chart in each
of these positions.

NUI HARBOUR.

Erection of War Memorial Tower.
THE Wanganui Harbour Board notify that the position
of the recently erected War Memorial Tower at Durie
Hill is 082° distant 3-3 miles from the flagstaff at the Signal
Station situated on the north side of the entrance to Wanganui
Harbour.
In clear weather the tower, the top of which is 375 ft.
high, is plainly visible to vessels approaching Wanganui
from seaward.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—HAURAKI GULF.

Tiri Tiri – Matangi Light, and Intended Conversion to Flashing.
INFORMATION is hereby given that it is intended to
convert the existing watched fixed light at Tiri Tiri,
Matangi, to an automatic light having the following characteristics :
Group Flashing.—Two flashes every thirty seconds. Flash,
two seconds; eclipse between flashes, six seconds;
between groups, twenty seconds.
Location, power, height, arc, and range of visibility, will
continue unaltered.
It is anticipated the conversion will be completed by the
end of April, but until the conversion is finally completed
there will possibly be a variation in the power of the light,
and mariners should therefore exercise the utmost caution.
Further notice will be given as to the actual date on which
the conversion is to take place.

Light to be established.
INFORMATION is hereby given that an automatic light,
unwatched, is to be established by approximately the
end of July, 1925, at Matakaoa Point immediately westward
of East Cape Lighthouse.

RIVER.

Harbour Light to be moved Seawards.
THE Foxton Harbour Board notify that the Harbour
light is to be transferred seawards in a direction 2344°
for a distance of 2,074 ft., to a new position situated 332°
distant 78 ft. from the existing signal-mast on the northern
side of the entrance to Manawatu River. It is intended to
change the luminant from oil to electricity simultaneously
with the transfer.
Further notice as to date of transfer, &c., will be given.

Notice to Mariners No. 10 of 1925.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—COOK STRAIT.

Port Nicholson Gunnery Datum Pillar erected.
INFORMATION is hereby given that a concrete datum
pillar for gunnery range finding purposes has been
erected by the military authorities on the eastern shore of
entrance to Port Nicholson at a position about 350 yards
northward of the low-level light at Pencarrow Head. The
pillar which is 5 ft. high, rectangular in shape, and white
in colour, is placed on the summit of a rock about 8 ft. above
high-water on the foreshore, and is not to be used for navigational purposes.
