Fixing Dates on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, are to be furnished.

PURSUANT to section 22 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1924, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned, in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 30th May, 1925.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of the Boundaries of the Borough of Lower Hutt and County of Hutt.

Wellington, 29th January, 1925.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under section 132 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Hutt and included in the Borough of Lower Hutt.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF HUTT AND INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF LOWER HUTT.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, being Section 9 and Part of Section 10, Hutt Registration District, and commonly known as Gear Island.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General in Council has been pleased to approve the following amended Rules 70, 71, and 72 of the Canterbury Stock Exchange.

BROKERAGE CHARGEABLE.

  1. THE rates of brokerage shall be those fixed or adopted from time to time by the Committee.

NO UNAUTHORIZED RATE TO BE CHARGED.

  1. No rates other than those fixed or adopted shall be charged. It shall not be allowable under any circumstances whatsoever to pay agents or other persons not being a licensed sharebroker (resident outside the City of Christchurch), a remuneration of any kind for introducing business, except in respect of new issue of shares, bonds, stock, or debenture.

MEMBERS NOT TO DO BUSINESS BELOW RATES.

  1. No members shall do business with any person other than a duly licensed sharebroker (resident outside the City of Christchurch) at net prices or at less than the rates of commission fixed or authorized by the Committee.

Abolition of a Special Roading District.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (6) of section 371, of the Land Act, 1924, I do hereby declare that the Kauarapaoa Special-roading District as constituted by a notice in the Gazette of the 28th day of January, 1915, is hereby abolished as from and including the 1st day of January, 1925.

Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for Edgar Booth, Katoomba, N.S.W.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable grounds for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or by any fictitious or assumed name) or addressed to the address shown in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of Mosgiel of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of Newsagent.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the newsagents’ shops in the borough of Mosgiel has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a newsagent—namely, newspapers and periodicals published at not more than monthly intervals—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a newsagent in the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of February, 1925, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of Mosgiel shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows—On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 9 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Newsagents’ Shops in the Borough of Mosgiel.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the newsagents’ shops in the Borough of Mosgiel, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows—6 o’clock on each night of the week except the half-holiday, and 9 o’clock on Saturday nights :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of February, 1925, all the newsagents’ shops in the Borough of Mosgiel shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd July, 1912, fixing the closing-hours of newsagents’ shops in the Borough of Mosgiel is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
