Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 14th October, 1924.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Richmond, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Richmond was taken on the 17th day of September, 1924, on the proposal of the Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of purchasing a section of land, to erect a fire station and meeting hall.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 115; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 30. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Defence Rifle Club disbanded.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Mataura.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Borough of Mataura. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF MATAURA.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of Borough of Mataura as defined in New Zealand Gazette, 1895, page 1710, with a line parallel to and distant 250 links from the eastern side of Kana Street, and proceeding thence northerly along the last-mentioned line to the southern side of Crawford Road; thence easterly along the said Crawford Road and the prolongation of the southern side thereof across Boundary Road to the borough boundary aforesaid; thence southerly and westerly along the said borough boundary to the place of commencement.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Riccarton, and the County of Waimairi.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Borough of Riccarton are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council dated the 29th day of September, 1924, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and published in Gazette No. 63 of the 2nd day of October, 1924.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the County of Waimairi affected by the said Order in Council dated the 29th day of September, 1924, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF RICCARION.

ALL that area of land in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of Blenheim and Wharenui Roads and proceeding in a northerly direction along the centre of said Wharenui Road to Riccarton Road; thence easterly along the centre of said Riccarton Road and northerly along the centre of Clyde Road to its intersection with a branch of the Avon River near the north-western corner of Lot 1 shown on deposited plan 3197; thence north-easterly and easterly generally down the middle of said branch of the Avon River to the easternmost corner Lot 321 shown on deposited plan 6079; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of said Lot 321 and Lots 320 and 319, said plan 6079 and the production of the last named boundary to Lot 221, deposited plan 2681; thence southerly generally along the eastern boundaries of said Lot 221 and Lots 220, 219, 218, 217, 216, 215, 214, 213, 212, 211, 210, 209, and 208 all shown on said plan 2681; thence across Hinau Road to the north-eastern corner of Lot 315, deposited plan 6079 aforesaid; thence along the eastern boundaries of said Lot 315 and Lots 314, 313, 312, 311, and 310, all shown on said plan 6079; thence across Totara Road to the north-western corner of Lot 309, said plan 6079; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of the last named lot to the land (known as Riccarton Bush) shown on deposited plan 3884; thence along the south-western boundary and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned parcel of land to Kauri Street; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of said Riccarton Bush to a point 250 links distant from the northern side of Rata Road; thence easterly along a line parallel to said Rata Road to Straven Road; thence northerly along the centre of said Straven Road to the aforesaid branch of the Avon River; thence easterly generally down the middle of the said branch and down the middle of the Avon River to Deans’ Avenue (West Town Belt Road); thence southerly down the centre of the last named road, easterly along the centre of Moorhouse Avenue, and south-westerly along the middle of Lincoln Road to the southernmost corner of Rural Section 118; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary and the production thereof across a road of said Rural Section 118, to the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 145; thence south-westerly along the last-named boundary to a point in the production of the eastern side of Blenheim Road; thence northerly along a right line to the northern side of Princess Street; thence westerly along the production of the said northern side of Princess Street to the centre of Blenheim Road; thence northerly and westerly along Blenheim Road to Wharenui Road, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF WAIMAIRI.

ALL that area of land in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point being the intersection of the middle of the Waimakariri River and the prolongation of the middle of the road fronting Rural Section 7449, situated in Block VI, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence in an easterly direction generally down the Waimakariri River to Stewart’s Gully; thence north-easterly down the middle of Stewart’s Gully and south-easterly down the Waimakariri River again to the sea; thence southerly generally along high-water mark of the sea to the Borough of New Brighton described in New Zealand Gazette, 1898, page 185; thence westerly, southerly, and north-westerly along the northern, western, and north-eastern boundaries respectively of that borough to the left bank of the River Avon; thence westerly, southerly, and again westerly generally along the left bank of the said Avon River to the City of Christchurch described in New Zealand Gazette, 1923, page 1876; thence north-westerly generally and southerly generally along the north-eastern and western boundaries respectively of that city to the Borough of Riccarton described above; thence westerly generally, northerly, southerly generally, and easterly generally along the northern, eastern, western, and southern boundaries respectively of said Borough of Riccarton to the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that city to Archer’s Bridge near the southernmost corner of Rural Section 159; thence north-westerly along the middle of the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Rural Section 121, 146, 156, 211, 240, and 108 respectively; thence westerly along the middle of the road forming the northern boundaries of the last named section and of Rural Sections 160, 389, Reserve 79 (racecourse) and Rural Section 1155 respectively to the westernmost corner of Rural Section 1226; thence north-easterly along the middle of the road forming north-western boundaries of the last named section and Rural Sections 1209, 1236, 1089, 1714, 3282, 4414, 2354, 58, 2780, and Reserve 323, intersecting Reserve 946, and forming the north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 4326 and 7449 to the point of commencement.
