Land reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Scenery Preservation Board, constituted pursuant to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), has recommended that the land described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be a scenic reserve under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.

Isolated Hill.—Whernside.

ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 4,260 acres, being Sections 4, Block III; 4, Block IV; and 4, Block IX, Whernside Survey District. Bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-east corner at the road reserve on the south bank of the Ure River, thence in the southerly direction by the boundaries of S.G.R. 183B, 18346·2 links, and S.G.R. 183A, 16852·3 links, to Section 1, Block IX, Whernside Survey District; thence westerly by the boundaries of said Section 1 and the abuttal of public roads up the Ben More Stream, 9835·6 links, to S.G.R. 187; thence northerly, westerly, and north-westerly by the boundary of S.G.R. 187, 3900 links, 3600 links, and 10200 links respectively, to Section 3, Block III, Whernside Survey District; thence northerly by the boundaries of said Section 3, 10200 links, to the road reserve on the south side of the Ure River; thence easterly by the road reserve one chain wide along the south bank of the Ure River to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid measurements more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/419, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 11th day of October, 1924.

Land set apart as Provisional State Forest declared to be subject to the Land Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting on the recommendation of the Minister of Lands, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being portion of a provisional State forest set apart by Proclamation dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and gazetted on the eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, is required for settlement purposes; and, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act, such land shall, from and after the day of the gazetting hereof, cease to be a provisional State forest, and shall become subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 311 acres, more or less, being part of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1697 and situated in Blocks XIII, Waiho, and I, Mount Cook Survey Districts. Bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section 842, thence following in a north-easterly direction a public road for a total distance of 6481·0 links; thence along a line bearing 217° 21′ 30″, and distance 7098·5 links; thence due south to the right bank of the Fox River; thence in a north-westerly direction along that river-bank to its intersection with the western boundary of Block I, Mount Cook Survey District; thence due north along that block boundary to the southern boundary of Section 841; thence due east along the southern boundaries of Sections 841 and 842, a distance of 1155·8 links; and thence in a north-eastern direction along the eastern boundary of aforesaid Section 842, a distance of 3281·4 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. X/98/24, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged green.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 11th day of October, 1924.
