to be Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Drury, at Manurewa,* as from the 1st October, 1924.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.
CHARLES STEPHENSON SQUIRES, Esquire, of 3 Mitre Court, Temple, London, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Robert Stout, P.C., K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in England under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force:
STAFF.
Captain G. B. Parkinson, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Artillery Instructor, Southern Command, as from 6th August, 1924, and is appointed Officer-in-charge, Harbour Defences, and O.C. Detachment, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, Northern Command, with effect from the 10th September, 1924, vice Captain R. S. Park, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, seconded for instruction in England.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Major-General G. S. Richardson, C.B., C.M.G., C.B.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (a). Dated 14th November, 1923.
1ST N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).
Major D. S. Murchison, D.S.O., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Major. Dated 12th September, 1924.
Captain L. R. C. MacFarlane, M.C., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), D.R. 10. Dated 15th September, 1924.
9TH N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (NORTH AUCKLAND).
The commission granted 2nd Lieutenant C. H. Finlayson is cancelled under section 5 (a) the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 25th August, 1924.
