Notice respecting proposed Hokio Drainage District, County of Horowhenua.

Wellington, 11th September, 1924.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a drainage district under Part I of the said Act, by name of Hokio Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said drainage district which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED HOKIO DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Horowhenua 11B 41G 3 Block, and proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the north-western boundary of that block to the southernmost corner of Horowhenua 11A 10 Block; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries respectively of said Horowhenua 11A 10 Block and the production of the last named boundary to the southern boundary of Horowhenua 11A 5 Block; thence westerly] generally along the southern boundary of the last named block; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Horowhenua 9A Block; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries respectively of the Raumatangi Block to the boundary of the Horowhenua Lake Reserve as described in Section 97 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916; thence south-easterly and north-easterly generally along the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of said Horowhenua Lake Reserve to the south-western boundary of Horowhenua 11B 38A Block; thence south-westerly along that boundary to the north-western boundary of Part Horowhenua 11B 39 shown in certificate of title registered as Volume 165, folio 241; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the north-western and south-western boundaries of said Part Horowhenua 11B 39; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Horowhenua Blocks 11B 39 and 11A 7C; thence north-westerly, south-westerly, and again north-westerly along the south-western, south-eastern, and south-western boundaries respectively of the last named block to a point in the production of the south-eastern boundary of Horowhenua 11A 6A Block; thence south-westerly along a right line to and thence along the last named boundary; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the last named block; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries respectively of Horowhenua 11B 41G 1 Block and the production of the last named boundary to the south-east boundary of Horowhenua 11B 41G 3 Block; thence south-westerly along the last-mentioned boundary, and north-westerly along the south-western boundary of said Horowhenua 11B 41G 3 Block to the point of commencement.
Also all that area bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Horowhenua 11B 41A 2B Block and proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the north-western boundary of that block for distance of 900 links; thence along a right line through the same block to and thence along the north-western boundaries of Horowhenua Blocks 11B 41A 3B and 11B 41A 3A; thence south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries respectively of Kawiu 2L 1B Block, and along the south-eastern boundary of and the production thereof of Kawiu 2L 2 Block to the north-eastern boundary of Kawiu 1E 6A Block; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of said Kawiu 1E 6A and Kawiu Blocks 1E 6, 1E 4A, 1E 4B, 1E 4C, 1E 4D, and 1E 3A; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of the last named block and of Kawiu 1E 3B Block and the production of the last named boundary to the north-eastern side of Section 20, Block I, Waiopehu Survey District; thence south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of said Section 20; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries respectively of the last named block to the south-western boundary of Horowhenua 11B 40 Block; thence north-westerly generally along the last named boundary to and along the north-eastern boundary of Horowhenua Lake Reserve aforesaid to and along the south-western boundary of Horowhenua 11B 41A 2B Block aforesaid to the point of commencement.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops in the City of Wellington.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops in the City of Wellington has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city be closed in the evening of working-days as follows — On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 8.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) When in any week any shop affected by this requisition is closed during the whole of the day on which it may remain open until 8.30 p.m. in accordance with this requisition, then and in such case the closing-hour for that shop on the Thursday immediately preceding such day shall be 8.30 p.m.; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops within the said city.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 22nd day of September, 1924, all the grocers’ shops within the City of Wellington shall be closed accordingly.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, prohibiting the Sale in the City of Wellington of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Grocer.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops within the City of Wellington has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer—namely, sugar, tea, coffee, cocoa, candles, rice, sago, tapioca, flour, oatmeal, jam, tinned fish, sultanas, raisins, currants, soaps (other than toilet soaps), starch, blue, and vinegar—be prohibited during such times as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a grocer in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 22nd day of September, 1924, the sale of the said goods in the City of Wellington shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows—On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m., on Fridays after the hour of 8.30 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 1 p.m., with the exception that when in any week any grocer’s shop is closed during the whole of the day on which the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hour of 8.30 p.m., then and in such case the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hour of 8.30 p.m. on the Thursday immediately preceding that day.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Roa Coal-mine Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers (other than engineers, engine-drivers, firemen, and winchmen), registered number 1034, situated at Roa, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
