HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING A SPECIAL RATE.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Hastings Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £49,000. authorized to be raised by the Hastings Borough Council under the abovementioned Act, and under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and its amendments, to be expended for the following purposes:
(a.) Footpaths, kerbs, and channels: For the construction of 481 chains of new concrete footpaths (where the kerbs and channels are already established) and 831 chains of new concrete channels, kerbs, and footpaths, at a cost of 15,000
(b.) For sewers and extensions of sewers in the following streets: Frederick Street, Konini Street, Willow Park Road, Dennett and Ellis Streets, and Bardon Street. 2,000
(c.) Bitumen road surfacing in portions of the following streets: Karamu Road (from Victoria Street to boundary), Heretaunga Street (from Tomoana Road to boundary), Havelock Road (from Park Road to Norton Road), Karamu Road (from Eastbourne Street to Southampton Street), Warren Street (from Eastbourne Street to Queen Street), King Street (from Eastbourne Street to Queen Street), Market Street (from Eastbourne Street to racecourse) 22,330
(d.) For the purchase of roadmaking machinery and plant: As recommended by the Borough Engineer 5,670

The said Hastings Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 16/25d. in the £1 on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Hastings, comprising the whole of the said borough; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
Roll of honour just published by the Defence Department, giving-
(1.) A list of members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces killed in action, died of wounds inflicted, or accident occurring, or disease contracted while on active service.
(2.) Those who died after discharge from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force from wounds inflicted or disease contracted while on active service.
(3.) Those who died from accident occurring or disease contracted while training with or attached to the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in New Zealand.
Price, 5s.; postage, 8d. extra.

Subscriptions.-- The subscription is at the rate of £4 per annum, including postage, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than three months cannot be subscribed for. Single copies of the Gazette as follows:--
Ordinary Weekly Gazette : For the first 32 pages, 9d.; increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 16 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.
Supplementary and Extraordinary Gazettes : For the first 8 pages, 6d.; over 8 pages and not exceeding 32 pages, 9d.; increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 16 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertion.
Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged 23s.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening of each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 3 o'clock of the day preceding publication.
