APPLICATION FOR ASSESSMENT OF COMPENSATION.

No. 15. Name of applicant: Waitotara County Council. Name of land: Puketarata 4c 1, Block X, Waipakura Survey District. Nature of application: To ascertain amount of compensation payable to Native owners under section 91 of the Public Works Act, 1908.


Tenders for Air-conditioning Plant for the Stout Street (Wellington), Automatic Exchange.

TENDERS are invited for the supply and installation of a complete air-conditioning system, employing refrigeration, for the Stout Street (Wellington), automatic-telephone exchange.

Upon application at the office of the District Telegraph Engineer, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, copies of the specification may be obtained.

Tenders are to be marked on the left-hand top corner of the envelope “Tenders for air-conditioning plant at Stout Street,” and should be addressed to “The Chief Telegraph Engineer, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington.”

Tenders will close at noon on the 31st proximo, and should be deposited with, or posted to reach, the Chief Telegraph Engineer on or before that date.

Mining Privileges to be struck off the Register.—Notice under the Mining Amendment Act, 1914.

NOTICE is hereby given that the mining privileges mentioned in the Schedule hereto will, at the expiration of three months from the above date, unless cause is shown to the contrary, be struck off the Register kept by me in pursuance of section 30 of the Mining Amendment Act, 1914.

IRELAND, SOUTH COAST.

Queenstown Harbour Entrance—Further Information re Alterations in Buoyage.

Former Notice.—No. 1635 of 1923.

Position.—Roche Point, lat. 51° 48′ N., long. 8° 15′ W. (approx.).

Details.—Further information has been received that the Outer Harbour rock light-buoy, referred to in par. (1) of the former notice, has now been established, but that the remaining alterations mentioned in pars. (2), (3), and (4), in regard to the Eastern or Inner Harbour rock light-buoy and the Chicago Knoll light-buoy and buoy, have not yet been carried out.

Further notice will be given on completion of the intended changes above referred to.

Note.—It should be noted that the chart plates were corrected for the proposed alterations.


FRANCE, NORTH-WEST COAST.

Ile d’Ouessant (Ushant) D/F Station.—Intended Alteration in Position.

(a.) Pen ar Roch D/F station to be closed:

Position.—Lat. 48° 26′ N., long. 5° 06′ W. (approx.).

Call Signal.—FEO.

Details.—Pen ar Roch D/F station will be closed to international service at midnight on 30th April, 1924, and is to be expunged from the charts.

(b.) Niou Huella D/F station to be opened:

Position.—Lat. 48° 27′ 40″ N., long. 5° 06′ 50″ W., on chart No. 2694.

Call Signal.—FEU.

Wave-length.—600 metres (for watch-keeping).

Details.—Niou Huella D/F station will be opened for international service at 0000 G.M.T. (civil) on 1st May, 1924. As in the case of Pen ar Roch D/F station, the bearings will be transmitted by Ushant W/T station (call signal, FFU).

Remarks.—No further notice will be given.


SPAIN, WEST COAST.—AROSA BAY APPROACH.

Cabo Corrubedo Light.—Amended Characteristics.

Position.—Lat. 42° 35′ N., long. 9° 05′ W. (approx.).

Abridged Description.—Fl. & gp. fl. 99 ft., 15 m.

Details.—The correct characteristics of this light are as follows:—

Character.—Flashing white and group flashing white.

Elevation.—Unaltered.

Visibility.—15 miles.

Sectors.—From 018° to 066° shows alternately flashing white and group flashing white (3 flashes); thence through east to 234° shows alternately group flashing white (2 flashes) and group flashing white (3 flashes); obscured thence to 325°; thence to 018° shows group flashing white (3 flashes).


AFRICA, WEST COAST.—LIBERIA.

Cape Palmas Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.

Position.—Lat. 4° 22′ N., long. 7° 44′ W. (approx.).

Abridged Description.—Fl. ev. 30 sec., 104 ft., 16 m.

Details.—The fixed white light has been replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics:—

Character.—Flashing white every thirty seconds.

Elevation.—104 ft. (31m7).

Visibility.—16 miles.

Power.—23,000 candles.

Structure.—White conical tower, 50 ft. (15m2) in height.

Note.—The note “Unreliable,” shown against this light on some copies of the charts, is to be expunged; masters of vessels are, however, invited by the Liberian authorities to report in regard to the operation of the light.


NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN, CANARY ISLANDS.—GRAN CANARIA, LAS PALMAS BAY.

Isleta Point (Morro de la Vieja) Light.—Increased Visibility.

Former Notice—No. 1226 of 1923.

Position.—Lat. 28° 11′ N., long. 15° 25′ W. (approx.).

Abridged Description.—Gp. fl. (4) ev. 20 sec., 802 ft., 30 m.

Details.—The visibility of this group flashing white light has been increased to 30 miles.
