28 miles 65 chains, more or less.
Hamilton–Paeroa: All that road known as Hamilton–
Paeroa Road, commencing at north-western corner of Section
254, Parish of Kirikiriroa, Block II, Hamilton Survey District,
and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction
via Newstead, Morrinsville, Waitoa, and Te Aroha, and
terminating at the southern boundary of the Pareoa Borough,
passing through the Counties of Waikato, Piako, and Ohine-
muri, but excluding those portions of the road in the
Morrinsville and Te Aroha Boroughs, being a distance of
40 miles 40 chains, more or less.
Paeroa–Kopu: All that road known as the Paeroa–Kopu
Road, commencing at the northern boundary of the Borough
of Paeroa and proceeding thence generally in a north-north-
westerly direction via Hikutai, Puriri, and terminating at
the junction with Pokeno–Tauranga Road to Coromandel Road
at Kopu, passing through the Counties of Ohinemuri and
Thames, being a distance of sixteen miles, more or less.
Hamilton–Rotorua: All that portion of the Hamilton–
Rotorua Road, commencing at the eastern boundary of the
Hamilton Borough and proceeding thence generally in a
south-easterly direction via Tamahere, Cambridge, Tirau, and
Tapapa, and terminating at the eastern boundary of the
Matamata County in Mamaku Bush, passing through the
Counties of Waikato and Matamata, but excluding that
portion of the road in the Borough of Cambridge, being a
distance of 50 miles 40 chains, more or less.
Waitoa–Taupo: All that portion of the Waitoa–Taupo
Road, commencing at its junction with the Hamilton–Paeroa
Road at Waitoa, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly
direction via Waharoa, Matamata, Tirau, Putaruru, Lichfield,
and Tokoroa, and terminating at the southern boundary of
the Matamata County, passing through the Counties of Piako
and Matamata, being a distance of sixty miles, more or less.
Matamata–Tauranga: All that portion of the Matamata–
Tauranga Road, commencing at its junction with the Waitoa–
Taupo Road at Hinuera, and proceeding thence generally in
an easterly direction via the Kaimai Road, and terminating
at the eastern boundary of the Matamata County, passing
through the Matamata County, being a distance of 14 miles
50 chains, more or less.
As the said public highways are more particularly de-
lineated on the plan marked M.H. 49, deposited in the office
of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington
Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day
of June, 1924.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR FRANCIS BELL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him
in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby declare that on and after the date of this
Order in Council the public highways mentioned in the
Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the mean-
ing and for the purpose of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
SCHEDULE.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 3.
TAURANGA–MATAMATA: All that portion of the road known
as Tauranga–Matamata Road, commencing at the western
boundary of the Borough of Tauranga and proceeding thence
generally in a south-westerly direction via Greerton, and
terminating at the Tauranga County boundary at Kaimai
Summit, passing through Tauranga County, being a distance
of twenty miles, more or less.
Gisborne–Whakatane (via Motu): All that portion of the
Gisborne–Whakatane (via Motu) Road, commencing at the
Opotiki County boundary at Motu and proceeding thence
generally in a northerly, westerly, south-westerly, and
north-westerly direction via Toatoa, Waiaua, Opotiki, Waio-
tahi, Waimana Junction, Taneatua, and terminating at its
junction with the Whakatane–Rotorua Road at Whakatane,
passing through the Counties of Opotiki and Whakatane, but
excluding that portion of the road in the Opotiki and Whaka-
tane Boroughs, being a distance of eighty-one miles, more
or less.
Whakatane–Rotorua: All that road known as the Whaka-
tane–Rotorua Road, commencing at its junction with the
Gisborne–Whakatane Road and proceeding thence generally
in a south-westerly direction, passing through Te Teko,
along the southern side of Lakes Rotoma, Rotoehu, and
Rotoiti, through Te Ngae, along the eastern side of Lake
Rotorua, and terminating at the north-eastern boundary of
the Borough of Rotorua, passing through the Counties of
Whakatane and Rotorua, being a distance of sixty-one
miles, more or less.
Whakatane–Tauranga: All that road known as the Wha-
kata ne–Tauranga Road, commencing at its junction with
the Whakatane–Rotorua Road and proceeding thence generally
in a north-westerly direction via Thornton, Matata, Pukehina,
Te Puke, and terminating at the southern boundary of the
Borough of Tauranga, passing through the Counties of Wha-
kata ne and Tauranga, being a distance of sixty-one miles,
more or less.
Te Ngae–Paengaroa: All that road known as the Te Ngae–
Paengaroa Road, commencing at its junction with the
Whakatane–Rotorua Road at Te Ngae and proceeding thence
generally in a northerly direction via Okere, and terminating
at its junction with the Whakatane–Waihi Road at Paengaroa,
passing through the Counties of Rotorua and Tauranga, being
a distance of twenty-four miles, more or less.
Cambridge–Rotorua: All that portion of the road known as
Cambridge–Rotorua Road, commencing at the western bound-
ary of Rotorua County and proceeding thence generally in a
south-easterly direction via Ngongotaha, and terminating at
the north-western boundary of the Borough of Rotorua,
passing through the County of Rotorua, being a distance
of thirteen miles, more or less.
Rotorua–Napier: All that portion of the road known as
Rotorua–Napier Road, commencing at the southern boundary
of the Borough of Rotorua and proceeding thence generally
in a southerly and south-easterly direction via Waiotapu,
Wairakei, Taupo, Runanga, and terminating at the eastern
boundary of Taupo County at the Mohaka River Bridge,
passing through the Counties of Rotorua and Taupo, being
a distance of 120 miles, more or less.
Cambridge–Taupo (via Atiamuri): All that portion of the
road known as Cambridge–Taupo (via Atiamuri) Road, com-
mencing at the western boundary of the Rotorua County
and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction
through Atiamuri and Oruanui, and terminating at its
junction with the Rotorua–Napier Road at Wairakei, passing
through the County of Taupo, being a distance of thirty
miles, more or less.
As the said public highways are more particularly de-
