Block X, Hawkswood Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction, passing over the Conway and Hundalee River Bridges, and terminating at the north-west corner of Section 27, Block XI, Mount Fyfe Survey District, near Kaikoura, being a distance of 29 miles 20 chains, more or less; marked A-B on plan.

Waiau-Kaikoura Road: All that portion of the Waiau-Kaikoura Road, in the Amuri County, commencing at the Mason River Crossing, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction, and terminating at the Conway River Crossing, being a distance of 9 miles, more or less; marked C-D on plan.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 32, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked as above mentioned.

Declaring Portion of Road in Highway District No. 14, Tawera County, to be a Government Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day of June, 1924.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR FRANCIS BELL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a Government road.


SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY CENTRAL DISTRICT, NO. 14.

ARTHUR’S PASS to Springfield Road: All that portion of the Arthur’s Pass to Springfield Road, in the Tawera County, commencing at the Westland County boundary, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, passing through Bealey, Cass, Porter’s Pass, and terminating at Springfield, being a distance of fifty-four miles, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 33, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked A-B on plan.

Declaring Public Highways in the No. 1 Highway District to be Main Highways.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day of June, 1924.

Present:

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that on and after the date of this Order in Council the public highways mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purpose of the Main Highways Act, 1922.


SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 1.

AUCKLAND-HELENSVILLE Main Highway: All that portion of the road known as the Auckland-Helensville Road, commencing at the southern end of the Whau Creek Bridge and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via New Lynn, Henderson, Kumeu, and Waimauku, and terminating at the northern boundary of the Helensville Town District, passing through the Waitemata County, including those portions of the road in the Town Districts of New Lynn, Glen Eden, Henderson, and Helensville, being a distance of 30 miles 2 chains, more or less.

Kumeu Railway-station-Albany Road Main Highway: All that road known as the Kumeu Railway-station-Albany Road, commencing at its junction with the Auckland-Helensville Road and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Riverhead, and terminating at its junction with the Albany Dairy Flat Road, near Pukeatua Trig., passing through the Waitemata County, being a distance of 8 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Helensville-Waiwera Main Highway: All that road known as the Helensville-Waiwera Road, commencing at the northern boundary of the Helensville Town District and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Kaukapakapa, Wainui, and Waiwera Valley, and terminating at the root of the Waiwera Wharf, passing through Waitemata County, being a distance of 21 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Port Albert-Wellsford Main Highway: All that road known as the Port Albert-Wellsford Road, commencing at the wharf at Port Albert and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at its junction with the Wayby-Maungaturoto Road, at Wellsford, passing through the Rodney County, being a distance of seven miles, more or less.

Waiwera-Mangawai Main Highway: All that road known as the Waiwera-Mangawai Road, commencing at its junction with the Helensville-Waiwera Road and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction via Puhoi, Warkworth, Dome Pass, Wayby, and terminating at Mangawai at its junction with the Kaiwaka-Mangawai Road, passing through Rodney and Otamatea Counties, and including the portion in the Warkworth Town District, being a distance of forty-three miles, more or less.

Warkworth-Kaipara Flats Railway-station: All that portion of the road known as the Warkworth-Kaipara Flats Railway-station Road, commencing at its junction with the Waiwera-Mangawai Road and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at the Kaipara Flats Railway-station, passing through the County of Rodney, being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Wayby-Maungaturoto: All that road known as the Wayby-Maungaturoto Road, commencing at its junction with the Waiwera-Mangawai Road and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via Wellsford, Te Hana, Topuni, and Kaiwaka, and terminating at Wairau Bridge, Maungaturoto Township, passing through Counties of Rodney and Otamatea, being a distance of 25 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Maungaturoto Railway-station-Waipu: All that road known as the Maungaturoto Railway-station-Waipu Road, commencing at Maungaturoto Railway-station and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction through Maungaturoto and via Waipu Gorge, and terminating at its junction with the Mangawai-Oakleigh Road at Waipu Central, passing through the Counties of Otamatea and Whangarei, being a distance of 15 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Kaiwaka-Mangawai: All that road known as the Kaiwaka-Mangawai Road, commencing at its junction with the Wayby-Maungaturoto Road and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction, and terminating at its junction with the Wayby-Mangawai Road at Mangawai, passing through Otamatea County, being a distance of 9 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Whangarei-Oakleigh: All that road known as the Whangarei-Oakleigh Road, commencing at the southern boundary of Borough of Whangarei and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction, and terminating at the entrance to Oakleigh Railway-station, passing through Whangarei County, being a distance of nine miles, more or less.

Whangarei-Dargaville: All that road known as the Whangarei-Dargaville Road, commencing at the western boundary of the Borough of Whangarei and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Maungata-pere, Waiotama, Tangiteroria, Kirikopuni, Tangowahine, and terminating at the northern boundary of Dargaville Borough, passing through Counties of Whangarei and Hobson, being a distance of 39 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Whangarei-Kawakawa: All that road known as the Whangarei-Kawakawa Road, commencing at the northern boundary of the Whangarei Borough and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via Kamo, Hikurangi, Hukerenui, Towai, and terminating at its junction with the Kawakawa-Rangiahua Road at Kawakawa Post-office, passing through the Counties of Whangarei and Bay of Islands, and including those portions of the road in the Town Districts of Kamo, Hikurangi, and Kawakawa, being a distance of 35 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Maungatapere-Kaikohe: All that road known as the Maungatapere-Kaikohe Road, commencing at its junction
