Duty to be levied on Sugar being the Produce or Manufacture of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Customs Department,
Wellington, 9th January, 1924.
IN pursuance of section 5 of the Customs Amendment Act, 1923, I do hereby fix the 1st day of March, 1924, as the date on and after which the said Act shall apply to sugar (including invert sugar and invert syrup) being the produce or manufacture of the Commonwealth of Australia.
On and after that date there shall be levied, collected, and paid upon the following goods, being the produce or manufacture of the said Commonwealth, the duties of Customs (if any) set forth hereunder in addition to the primage duty of 1 per centum ad valorem imposed by section 15 of the Customs Amendment Act, 1921:—
Sugar, of Number 22 colour, or over (Dutch standard); invert sugar and invert syrup—
On and after 1st March, 1924, up to and including 30th September, 1924 .. 5/8d. per lb.
On and after 1st October, 1924 .. Free.
Sugar n.e.i.; treacle, molasses, golden syrup, maple sugar, and maple syrup—
On and after 1st March, 1924 .. Free.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block V, Aroha Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block V, Aroha Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Aroha, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1 acre 3 roods 13 perches.
Portion of Waitoki Block, situated in Block V, Aroha Survey District. (S.O. 20968.)
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 55336, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road of Less Width than 66 ft.
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Papatoetoe Extension No. 29 affecting Lot 10 on plan numbered 8814, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, and prepared by Samuel Trevor Dibble, Licensed Surveyor, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the road shown therein (Brooks Way) should be of the width of 66 ft.
Now, therefore, I, David Henry Guthrie, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 2 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1915, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of such road of a width of 50 ft: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.
Given under my hand this 12th day of January, 1924.
