The improvements not included in the capital value, but which have to be paid for separately, are—

Section 21s: Old smithy and shed now on Allotment 10s to be removed by the lessee of Section 21s, and re-erected on his allotment at his own expense. These buildings are valued at £20, which is payable in cash. The lessee will also be required to take one-twelfth share of miscellaneous license over Section 2, Block XXIII, Teviot District, the area of which is 77 acres, and the total annual rent £5, and to pay in cash £50, being one-twelfth share with lessees of Runs 638 to 644, and Allotments 3s, 7s, 8s, and 22s in huts, dip, yards, also bridge over the Teviot River.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Teviot Settlement is situated about five miles from Miller’s Flat, and about twenty miles from Beaumont Railway-station, the present terminus of the Lawrence-Roxburgh Railway. The land is undulating, each section containing a large proportion of ploughable land. The greater part is at present in pasture. The soil is a good schist loam, on a clay or rubble subsoil. Capable of growing cereals, root crops, and very good grass. Access is provided by formed roads.

Constituting the Te Aria Rabbit-proof-fencing District.—

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by sections eighty-six and eighty-seven of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, on petition in that behalf from a majority of the ratepayers therein, constitute and declare any part of New Zealand comprising not less than one thousand acres in area, and containing not less than three ratepayers, to be a rabbit-proof-fencing district for the purposes of the said Act; and prescribe the number of ratepayers of which the Board of Trustees shall consist:

And whereas a petition in accordance with the provisions of the said Act has been received asking that the lands described in the Schedule hereto be constituted and declared a rabbit-proof-fencing district for the purposes of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby constitute and declare that part of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto to be a rabbit-proof-fencing district for the purposes of the said Act, by the name of the Te Aria Rabbit-proof-fencing District, and doth hereby prescribe that the number of ratepayers of which the Board of Trustees shall consist shall be three.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at the intersection of the Te Kawa-Te Mawhai Railway line by the north-western boundary of Kakepuku No. 11c 2b, thence in a north-westerly direction by the north-eastern boundary of No. 11c 2b, Puniu Survey District, to the intersection of the Te Puhi Road; thence in a north-westerly direction by the Te Puhi Road to the intersection of the eastern boundary of Kakepuku 1e Block; thence in a southerly direction by the eastern boundary of Section No. 1e; thence in a south-westerly direction by the north-western boundary of Section 11A; thence in a northerly, south-westerly, and south-easterly direction by the eastern, north-western, and south-western boundaries of Kakepuku No. 1r 2; thence in a north-westerly direction by the north-eastern boundary of Section 11A; thence in a north-westerly direction by the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 1g, to the intersection of the Ouruwhero Road; thence in a westerly direction by the Ouruwhero Road to the intersection of the south-western boundary of Kakepuku No. 1g; thence in a south-easterly direction by the south-western boundary of No. 1g, and its production through No. 11b, and No. 11c 2A, to and along the south-western boundary of No. 11c 2D 2A; thence in an easterly direction by the southern boundary of No. 11c 2D 2A; thence in a south-westerly direction by the north-western boundary of No. 11c 2c; thence in a south-easterly direction by the south-western boundary of No. 11c 2c; thence in a north-easterly direction by the south-eastern boundary of No. 11c 2c; thence in an easterly direction by the southern boundary of No. 11c 2B, to the railway-line; thence generally in a north-easterly direction by the railway-line to starting-point.
