DESCRIPTION.
Taupo Township is situated on the banks of the Waikato River, and on the northern shore of Lake Taupo, distant two hundred and twenty-seven miles from Auckland (by rail to Rotorua, thence by coach) and one hundred and three miles (by coach) from Napier. Sulphur springs, geysers, various mineral baths, Huka Falls, Aratiatia Rapids, &c., are among the attractions for the tourist. Trout-fishing in the lake provides splendid sport. There are several good hotels in the town for the accommodation of visitors.

Opening Land in the Gisborne Land District for Sale or Selection.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the eleventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wairoa County.—Taramarama Survey District.
SECTION 21, Block XII: Area, 850 acres (approx.). Capital value, £3,400. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £85. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £68.
Block well watered, though broken by some steep gullies. Soil is fair to good, similar to the adjoining portion of Ardkeen Settlement. There is a little heavy timber in the middle of the section suitable for fencing material; the remainder of the section is mostly covered with heavy manuka-scrub with a little fern in places. Situated about seventeen miles from Wairoa, twelve miles of formed road and five miles of stock-driving road.

Notifying Land in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction for Cash or on Deferred Payments.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and twenty-six of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the twelfth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, as the time at which the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction for cash or on deferred payments; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.
Block VII, Port Nicholson Survey District.—City of Wellington.
Lot 40 and Part Lot 39, Block V, D.P. 1743, being part Section 6, also other part Section 6, Watts Peninsula R.D.: Area, 1 acre 0 roods 34·62 perches; upset price, £6,200.
This property is well situated for a private hotel or large convalescent home. The main building is built of timber with iron roof and contains thirty-one rooms, with office, four bath-rooms, scullery, pantry, servery, two staircases, entrance-hall, upstairs lounge-hall, linen-presses, cupboards, &c. The outbuildings are built of concrete with iron roof and include wash-house, laundry, coal and wood houses, and motor-garage. Grounds are well laid out, there being a kitchen-garden and a croquet-lawn.
